Alternative to Advil out there?

Many medications contain inactive ingredients that are contraindicated for people who have food sensitivities. Information about such ingredients can be posted here to provide a convenient reference.

Alternative to Advil out there?

Post by virginianaughton »

I put my back out and took Advil. What a mistake. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Virginia,

Unfortunately, like most of us, if you react to Advil, you will react to all NSAIDs. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) doesn't affect MC. Tramadol usually doesn't affect MC, and the narcotic painkillers don't trigger a reaction. In fact, the narcotic painkillers cause the opposite problem — they tend to cause constipation and they carry a significant risk of impaction.

Some members claim that they had some degree of success with topically-applied analgesics (even NSAIDs) applied at the site of the pain.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

For chronic back pain issues, I recommend looking into Low Dose Naltrexone.
