electrolyte replacement recipe

Post by bevfromwa »

I need help--am a thousand miles from home (in CA) and having a flare, decided I'm definitely in need of Polly's very simple but very effective recipe for electrolyte replacement. Couldn't find it on search, seems like it was just salt, sugar, maybe soda. I'd appreciate it if someone can find the recipe and let me know. I'm able to access my email account from here.

Thanks very much, Beverly

You can make an inexpensive homemade rehydration drink. Measure all ingredients precisely. Small variations can make the drink less effective or even harmful. Mix together:

1 quart (950 ml) water
½ teaspoon (2.5 g) baking soda
½ teaspoon (2.5 g) table salt
3 to 4 tablespoons (45 to 60 g) sugar
If available, add ¼ teaspoon (1.25 g) salt substitute, such as "Lite Salt".

Hi Beverly,

I'm sorry that you're having a flare. The recipe that Gabes posted is the same one that Polly posted. Here's a link to Polly's post, but of course you may as well just use Gabes' post to copy the recipe.

I hope you will be able to recover soon.
