AIP modifications

Post by Dsnrbec »

Hey fellow MC'ers. It's been a while since I've posted because I've been relatively stable. After a Lyme's diagnosis, I began a herbal protocol and it has sent me into a major flare. I've stopped the herbs and gone back on budesonide but want to begin the AIP diet and wonder if anyone has done it with modifications for MC and suspected histamine issues. If so, what have you eliminated? For instance, I can't do anything raw so salads are out. Anything else you can recommend? Thanks in advance.

quite a few people here do a modified AIP or keto.
you change it to your safest proteins and only have small serves of cooked vegetables
and lots of home made bone broth.

our stage 1 eating plan is what we suggest for first stage of healing

hope this helps

Thanks so much. I guess it's too much to hope someone will design a custom diet just for me 😏

Hi D

Indeed its very difficult to find out your own safe diet. What works for me, may not work for you.
I was last year diagnosed with Lyme disease and had problems with 'post lyme problems', with was confusing because of the overlap with my MC problems. It took a year until this symptoms disappeared.
I follow a strict diet and did the paleo auto immuum protocol, but I'm still not totally sure about all my triggers.
If you read this forum well, you will see that most of us can't tolerate gluten, dairy and soy and sometimes eggs. When I stopped gluten two years ago, I managed te discontinue budesonine and never used it again.
Success!

This is of course individual to my situation, but I follow the AIP protocol in my healing process, and generally. I can give you specifics if you would like, although the fact that I am still in the healing process means that I am probably not the right source for direction on how best to heal using the AIP protocol. I will say that, for me, I have identified that white potatoes (a known night shade, which is in permissible under the AIP protocol) is a big problem for me. I learned the hard way when I was making good progress towards my recovery, and had a plain baked potato that resulted in a relapse. I can't be sure if that is because it violated the AIP protocol, or if I am just not suited to eat white potatoes, but it told me that at least in my situation, there may be something to the AIP protocol, and in particular, avoidance of nightshades like white potatoes. Hope that helps and if there is anything I can share about my diet and the results I've had, please let me know.

The other aspect to wellness is that it is not just about food.

there are many other items /triggers that contribute to inflammation.
(chemicals, mold, pollen, pollution, heavy metals, stress (physical and/or emotional and/or mental)

as per the approach mentioned in this article -
each individual has to manage their own inflammation bucket.
http://www.perskyfarms.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=22894

that is why there is not 'set' eating plan that work for all - each person has to juggle safe ingredients that suits them and their current lifestyle based on a multitude of external factors
