Thank you
I have been silently perusing this site since I found it, which luckily for me was very soon after my CC diagnosis. Still trying to feel I have some control of my hapless life, but not really I guess. I feel you are already my dear friends just from reading...and sharing so many of the same humbling, startling, and depressing experiences. I decided it was unfair of me not to at least let you know how much I appreciate you all, and the fact that this board is here. I started to write many times, but I am just so overwhelmed that it would be such a litany of complaints... So I have been here silently soaking up support.
I have been sugar free for years, and am now adopting the healing diet from this site. I have trouble since my mother is an extremely picky eater and wants to eat out every day...I am her caregiver, and lifting her rollater in and out of the car has caused me more mishaps than I care to remember.
Just wanted to let you know how much this site means...I find myself here every day on my Kindle. So big hug to you all. And much love...

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

hi there
so pleased that you did post and that we have been helping you in your journey.
living with MC can be overwhelming without the added complexity of being a carer and having to eat out.
hopefully some of our suggestions to others can be helpful to you, eating a safe meal before you go out, taking the Vit D3 and magnesium to help with inflammation levels etc.
big hug right back to you

TovaMorna.....please don't be silent!! Bring on all the questions you have even if you think they are silly. Everyone on here is in the same boat. I ask questions about anything and everything, even multiple times And always get answers/ suggestions. People here are very helpful, so just jump on in when you're ready!!

I still feel too ignorant to even ask about anything, Lou Ann. Thank you for sweet reply. I feel like the leaders of the forum really go the extra mile to reach out to all of us and share their knowledge and experience. I am nearly out of the denial stage and entering grieving, I think. I just wasn't expecting a permanent problem.. I lost 30 lbs in 3 months and then had the colonoscopy and biopsies. From some of the experiences on here, I was lucky to be diagnosed so quickly. I am just so exhausted from incessant diarrhea, it is hard to take care of my 84-year-old mother, and I have to be able to do that. She is currently in a back brace for broken vertebra...
I'm cheating with the bone broth walmart sells. Do you think that is Ok? There is no way I can do all the cooking for this. Thank you Tex and Gabes for kind words.
Love TovaMorna I love cats...one of the two escapes from misery Sweitzer said, I think...

TovaMorna,
You have every right to go thru any stage you want....it's not an easy thing to get a hold on, like Gabes says, there isn't One fix, as much as we all wish there was!! It's a frustrating trial and error issue. Has your doctor given any meds? When I had debilitating D they gave cholestyramine and budesonide. It stopped my D rather quickly. But it doesn't do that for everyone on here, so I am just speaking for myself. I also took care of my elderly parents, and I know how much stress that puts on you and it's an ongoing stress, not one that can easily be put aside....so hang in there with that!!

Lou Ann, I feel like my primary care understands this better than gastroenterologist. He wants me to do some kind of antibiotic, and that raises red flags on here. My PcP is for the bone broth and overcooking a few vegetables...impressed me after some of what I've read here.
I admit I feel kind of guilty having something like this that is disrupting my mother's life too. I've not had luck with anti-diarrhea medications...
Thanks so much for your input!

TovaMorna,
I'm guessing that the antibiotic your GI doc wants you to try is rifaxamin (Xifaxan), because the drug reps heavily promoted that drug a few years ago for the treatment of diarrhea. Quite a few members here have tried it (some have tried it several times), but unfortunately it never helps for more than a few days or so. And it's a relatively expensive antibiotic, to boot. It's fine for treating common traveler's diarrhea (which is what it's labeled to treat), but it's of very limited value for treating MC.
It's common to feel guilty about having MC because it definitely affects those around us by draining away our energy. But it's not our fault that we have the disease, so there's really no reason to feel guilty. We're victims of the disease just like they are, except that it's much harder on us than it is on them.
