Martha,

My best wishes for a speedy recovery. Tylenol with codeine makes me so nauseated that I cannot take it. Hopefully you can tolerate it.

You are in my prayers.

Love,

Sorry that you have to delay your planned trip to Thailand

the generic effexor has not caused me any MC issues and 37.5mg is the lowest dose - so that is good

P5P is the active form of B6. if you have time before the procedures, if you can start taking active forms of B6, B9, B12 (there is a pre-prepared mix called Metanx) this will help your body cope with the anesthetics and the pain killers etc.

hope this helps
good luck for Friday

This product is a close match for Metanx at about one-fifth the cost of Metanx, and it doesn't require a prescription. It's what I'll be taking as soon as I finish the bottle of Metanx I'm currently using.

I was on Effexor for years. I decided to go off since I felt no depression; actually was unable to feel any emotion. I couldn’t cry! So tapered off per MD but had terrible side effects. Took about a month but finally feel better there. Unfortunately the change also caused a relapse of MC. In the past a taper dose of
Budesinide would work quickly for me but not this time. I’ve been on budesinide and have been trying colesipol with little improvement. I am to the point I’m willing to go back on an antidepressant, anything but Effexor for its constipating effect.
Ideas???

Hi Pati,

Welcome to the group. You seem to be in a rather unique position. Many people have the opposite experience with Effexor — it activates their diarrhea. If you feel that it actually controls your MC, try this (this is a rather radical idea, and your doctor would never suggest it because it's too inexpensive, but it works for many MC patients):

Try taking an ordinary antihistamine each day, such as Allegra, Claratin, Zyrtec, etc.. The basis of my logic is the fact that most antidepressants are basically powerful antihistamines. You should see a difference within a day or two. Please let us know if it helps or doesn't help.

Again, welcome aboard, and please feel free to ask anything.
