Headed to GI Doc
Going to see a new GI Doc today. Feeling pretty poorly today, like I have the flu or something. Feel like bowling ball in my belly today. Prayers are appreciated!
Hi Randy:
I don't know you but God doesn't care, I can still pray for you. I pray that the Lord quickly restores you.
God Bless.

Randy,
Maybe you've picked up a virus. Flu cases have really increased in some areas around here in the past week or so.
But I agree with Deb — most GI docs seem to be pretty stingy with information and support when it comes to MC, other than writing prescriptions and reassuring us that diet changes won't help.
Hope you'll be feeling better in a few days.

So sorry Randy, I know your pain and my prayers go out to you. I had a disappointing follow up appointment today with my GI after being hospitalized last week. It has felt like I had a bowling ball in my belly for the past month with crippling pain. He drew blood to check for for drug allergies and prescribed pain meds. My Budesonide 9mg is dropping to 6mg tomorrow after being on the strong dose for 11 weeks. I haven't put on any weight since starting this med. I am grossly underweight at 98lbs. I asked about a gluten and dairy free diet. He replied, "Why? You tested negative for Celiac disease". I wore shorts and a sleeveless shirt so he could see how the veins are popping right through my skin. I asked him about other alternatives for putting on weight. He said, "Don't worry as you aren't losing any more weight".

Thanks all. We have had lots of cases of stomach viruses going around here, and people passing it back and forth. It seems to relent when I don't eat. I thought I was doing well yesterday and ate some baked bland chicken and well cooked sweet potatoes, then I was hungry again at lunch so I tried some bland chicken and white rice, had some gas from that and seemed to be ok, the I had some turkey with some well cooked cauliflower and carrots, an hour later I had a belly ache, and this morning I was nauseous! Felt like I had the flu, joints ached, had chills and belly ache most of the day. Had 3 BM's this morning of the fairly normal type. Haven't eaten anything today and my abdomen is a little achy I guess I would say. This is frustrating!
Randy,
To expand on what Deb pointed out, most supermarket turkeys these days contain either rosemary or rosemary extract. If they actually contain the herb rosemary, they should be safe. However, if they contain rosemary extract, soy oil is almost always used as the extraction medium, and most of us who are sensitive to soy (and most of us are) are also sensitive to soy oil and additives such as herbs extracted by means of soy oil.
And unfortunately, there are apparently a few situations where the people in charge of labeling specifications use the term "Rosemary" interchangeably with "Rosemary Extract", further confusing the issue. As a result, it's risky to trust any turkey with either "Rosemary" or "Rosemary extract" on the label, unless you're absolutely sure that you are not sensitive to soy.
But the biggest risk involves gluten — many turkeys are injected with "tenderizing solutions" or whatever the processor chooses to call it, and some of those solutions contain gluten (or soy). That's why Deb suggested that you check the label on that turkey.

Thanks all! I am only new to this sight for 3-days now. I read the book Microscopic Colitis in one day. My GI just posted my blood work tests that were performed yesterday for drug interaction allergies. Everything came out normal. So scared and confused as all this is new to me. Don't know where to turn and I am so so tired of feeling sick and looking sick. I don't even know myself when I look in the mirror. I live in the hot climate of Miami and can't hide my emancipated body in layers of heavy clothing. It is just too hot. Tired of strangers staring at me and asking me if I am feeling ok.

Ann,
I hear you. I always found it hard to believe that my lab results could look so good when I felt so bad and looked so rough. Before I was able to get my symptoms under control I hated to look in the mirror because I looked old and shriveled, and with every passing week, I looked a little worse.
But I finally managed to turn my health around, and you will, too. Maybe it's just me, but when I was eventually able to get things back under control, and I realized that I was finally out of that hopeless pit, I thought it was the greatest feeling in the world. Nothing could compare to the sense of relief I felt. The clinical symptoms of MC are bad enough, but the sense of hopelessness and the feeling of isolation from the rest of the world seemed worse, to me.
