Budesonide - Entocort - Rash, Rosacea, Acne?

Post by Nutter »

Just wondering if anyone has had a reaction to budesonide/entocort effecting their skin. I was on it for 9 weeks and it really did help my MC sever WD, within a few days. Did very well on it but a few days after stopping it I developed a dry, itchy rash on my face, severe rosacea, acne like whiteheats all over my chin/mouth area. Rash on sides of face, near eyes and behind ears. It's been 3 weeks now and no improvement on the rash. Dermatologist called it ' steroid induced acne/rosacea'. Anyone else have this reaction. Just not sure if it could be something else. Very strange, I've never had acne in my life and now get it at age 59! Trying to be patient with it but most concerned that it is an indication my body is way out of whack somehow. I am using metronizadole gel (from dermatologist) and essentials oils a little.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

I've never used budesonide, but various skin issues such as you describe are known side effects of budesonide and other corticosteroids.

Did he recommend an antihistamine? I don't know if an antihistamine would help rosacea, but it will certainly help to relieve the itching caused by the rash.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hello,

I experienced almost the same thing while coming off Budesonide, basically all that you mentioned besides severe rosacea, acne like whiteheads. It took about 1.5 months being off the med for the skin issues to completely go away. During that month and a half I made sure to have some type of moisturizer on my face at all times. During the day I used a facial lotion and at night I drowned my face and ears with coconut oil. The coconut oil worked better than lotion, especially for the ears and neck.
