ER today
Well yesterday I started to have a similar pain that I had when I was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis last year and that is not something to mess with so I called my doc, but there was no way to get in any time soon so went to the ER. After XRays, blood work the pancreas is working fine, all blood work was perfect! So I have two prescriptions pantoprazole sodium and chlordiazepoxide Hal/clidinium bromide. I can't start taking the until after my colonoscopy on Wednesday and not sur if should then. One is a PPI and I haven't researched the other. Any one have experience with either of these?

I don't have experience with those meds exactly - but I would ask you to consider an option other than PPI.
Are you taking Vit D3 and magnesium
I used to have really intense cramping pains for majority of my life. these went away once I did my MC eating plan (ie no major triggers and reduced inflammation) and resolved deficiencies with Vit D3 and magnesium.
as a teenager and young adult I was hospitalised multiple times and they could not figure out what was wrong. Not eating, being on the drip for 2 days and resting, the pain would abate.

Hi Randy,
I'm sorry you're having those symptoms. Here is my opinion on the 2 meds you mentioned. In my opinion it should be illegal for doctors to prescribe PPIs unless it might somehow save a life in a life-or-death situation. For one thing, PPIs are a very common trigger for MC. But they have many more strikes against them. Please read the article from the Microscopic Colitis Foundation about the risks of PPIs. Here's a direct link to the PDF. You only need to read the first 3 pages because the rest of the article is about treatment methods to help with overcoming the difficulties of weaning off PPIs:
http://www.microscopiccolitisfoundation ... 112716.pdf
And before you take the chlordiazepoxide Hal/clidinium bromide you might want to read the FDA warning about the risks of taking combinations such as that.

Here's a link to the actual FDA warning:

IMO taking either one of those medications that you were prescribed at the ER would be a bit like burning down the barn to get rid of a few rats. I consider them to be mighty risky drugs.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
