Orgran Brownie Mix
Gabes, I got the Orgran Brownie Mix, not cheap since it came from your neck of the woods! But worth it for the cooking challenged. I added enjoy life choc. chips and used coconut oil. Easy to make and tolerated it well. I am freezing the rest in individual packages to take when everyone orders desserts and I have one too. I like recipes with 5 items or less. Add that with apple crumble that you gave me a link too and that is a start for some treats. I had to adjust cooking time and water add to help with the finished product.
Thanks again Gabes

So pleased that you have treat options!! the brownies freeze and defrost well.
Amazon USA used to sell it (you have to bulk buy a carton of 12 i think)
Orgran has been a trusted gluten free product maker in Australia for over 17 years. When i first went gluten free in 2000 it was one of the only brands readily available.
Of note, the amount of traceable gluten for a product to be gluten free in Australia is lower than the USA

as far as I know Orgran have never had a recall. The Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code require the following:
Foods labelled as “gluten free” must not contain any detectable gluten; and no oats or their products; or cereals containing gluten that have used malt or their products.
Ingredients derived from gluten containing grains must be declared on the food label, however small the amount.

The other thought I had - given how much cafe's and bakerys charge for gluten free treats, when you look at the per serving cost for the brownies it may not be all that expensive.
it is also a big mental and emotional boost to have things you can take to social occaisions that are safe but also taste awesome!
there are also some good paleo type brownie recipes on the web that can be tweaked to suit your individual ingredients
I have adjusted one that is coconut oil, coconut sugar, cocao butter, eggs.

HI Gabes,
That is good to know about the Australian products having no detectable amounts of gluten. In the US products labeled GF can have 20 ppm.
This is a good resource for the Americans. http://www.fda.gov/Food/GuidanceRegulat ... 362880.htm

Yep Brandy
very aware of the 20ppm level that USA and many other countries work to.
if there is a place in the world to have multiple food intolerances and allergies, Australia and NZ is it, as our labelling laws here are very strict, and have been for many years.
Half the products that the USA members talk about on this site, are not available for sale or able to be shipped to Australia as the products do not meet Australian standards/labelling laws. This applies to food and supplements. USA products that do meet the specs, (enjoy life is one that comes to mind) when I purchase the products from Australian distributors, the product has additional stickers on them so the product label conforms etc.
in regard to the 20ppm allowable in the USA, this is one of the reasons I encourage new people from the USA to avoid processed flours and baked goods when doing the first stage of healing. Having too many serves of these items could still be too much gluten for those that are super reactive.
