Glad that things improved and you are back flying...

Yes mucus is a strong indicator of inflammation and with the pollen you mention, histamine/mast cell inflammation is the number 1 contender for your issues. Anti-histamines are a good option to alleviate the symptoms

for the long term - ie treat the root cause, supplementing with P5P (the active form of B6) will help the body moderate histamine levels

Could it also be that my body is now having a immune reaction to my safe foods? Will try allegra and see if it helps.

Pollen and histamine is the most likely cause
within a few days of taking anti-histamines you will confirm that.

Yes, as Gabes posted, pollen can tip the balance for some of us if we have histamine issues (mast cell activation disorder). Your GI doc won't tell you this, because he isn't likely to be aware that antihistamines can help in many MC cases, and he probably isn't aware that above-label doses of OTC antihistamines can be taken without significant risk, but allergists prescribe up to 4 times the label dose of antihistamines when treating chronic urticaria. I wouldn't take any more than I needed to maintain control, tough. Many members in that situation get good results with 1 or 2 24-hour capsules or tablets.

How long has it been since you took the last budesonide capsule?

If it had been 1 or 2 months then you could be having a relapse due to the rebound effect of ending a budesonide treatment, but at 5 or 6 months that's highly unlikely. That points the finger of suspicion at something in your diet or something in your environment. Pollen or other allergies can do that for many of us.

But it's not impossible that you may have developed a sensitivity to a previously safe food. That has happened to me (soy).

if you are interested in long term resolution of the histamine/allergy issues then taking P5P (active form of B6) is a very good option.
