When It Rains, It Pours.............Vision Issues

Post by jlbattin »

So, I don't really know if this is related to my MC in any way, but for the last couple of months I've been having issues with my vision and not seeing very well (even with my glasses).

Yesterday, I went to the eye doctor, and when she asked me to read the letters through the lens, I could only see 3 of the 5 letters (and they all were jumping around, were very wavy, etc.)

They had done an optimap of my eyes and on the left side, she saw something over the macular. In her diagnosis, she wrote macular cyst, hole, or pseudohole. She wrote a referral to a retina specialist and I am waiting on a call from them. In doing a little research of my own (which isn't always a good thing when you don't have a definite diagnosis because it can be VERY SCARY, those cause your vision to be distorted. I had never noticed that part of it as I don't typically cover one eye to see out of the other one.

Anyway, sometimes it feels like I'm drowning because lately I've been just having to take my MC one day at a time. Now, I have a whole new issue. Trying not to stress, but you only get one set of eyes, and this is the first time I've ever had anything like this......................And of course, stress is not good for us anyway..............

Thanks for letting me vent! And if you are so inclined, please say a prayer!

Hey Jari,

I know how you feel. Just when you thought you took 2 steps forward....I'll talk with the angels about you today :cherubangel: Of course make sure you are getting a therapeutic amount of mag to take down inflammation, even in the eyes. One second at a time.

HI Jari,

I have floating scar tissue in my eyes, normal is what I understand and gets more uncomfortable as we get older (Great! )

I hope either the Dr. can pinpoint it or you have an epiphany about what may be developing and there can be some therapy to start healing. Don't stress it, keep your diet on the up an up, and things will look up

Jari, you will definitely be in my prayers! We had an eye experience with our middle child. Reading on the web really scared us to death, so I stopped reading. The eye specialist got us in quickly and the "spot" in the back of his eye was not a problem.

I will be praying you get in quickly to the specialist! You take care, and please let us know how it goes.

Jari,

I will definitely add you to my prayer list. Bless your heart.
I had been doing so well, my husband was diagnosed with diabetes yesterday. I had to make a visit to our state office today to get my retirement date and lo and behold I had to rush out of her office with an accident.

You just never know......I had no idea that I was that stressed. Oh well, pick myself up and onward I go

My optometrist told me it is very common to see Auto Immune related issues during eye checks.

the main thing, breathe, relax and don't overthink it and let it stress you.
it has been found, you have the referral and you are taking the steps necessary.

Increase your Vit D3 and magnesium to help the body with current unsettlement and possible increase of inflammation levels.
even rub some diluted magnesium on your face near the eye area
(a friend with bad eye issues did this and it resolved it within 2 weeks)

Sadly for some of us, MC and the related/other health issues require semi constant management.
It has been 9 years or so for me managing various health issues that are all interlinked. This time 9 years ago I was recovering from Vision issues that stopped me from driving for 4 weeks (unknown cause, did not respond to treatment etc, which I now know was the start of my body having AI issues)

Thanks everyone for all the words of encouragement, and Gabe, you are just a wealth of knowledge. I appreciate you so much.

They called me this morning and I have an appointment on Monday, March 6th at 8 AM. She told me to plan on 2 1/2 - 3 hours. My eye doctor sent over the pictures so I have to believe that after looking at the pictures, if they thoughtit was anything very serious, they would have gotten me in sooner. That may not be true, but it helps me to think like that.

Appreciate you all more than you'll ever know! I'll keep you posted.

Hi, Jari. I will keep you in my prayers and I hope the best for you. We're so fortunate to have our internet family to share our concerns with. Take care!

Update............went to the retina specialist yesterday and will be having surgery this Thursday morning. I have a macular hole (not autoimmune related so he says). It is caused from years of an elongated eye due to serious near sightedness. I will be in the face down position for 2 weeks. I am not looking forward to this, but will do whatever it takes to get my eyesight back. I only get one set of eyes. I will do what he tells me to do. Even though I had never heard of it, it's actually very common (as evidenced by the number of folks in the eye clinic yesterday and they are retina specialists)! A lot of folks with eye issues. He didn't give me much time to prepare, much less stress (that's a good thing, I guess).................I have some family coming to stay with me for a few days since my hubby has to work (someone has to cover the insurance!) :)

Think positive thoughts and say a prayer or two and I'll be back in a couple of weeks or so..........during that time, I can't read or watch TV..............will be interesting as I'm a pretty active person..............but I know I can do this! Will keep my diet bland during this time to keep things in check.

Thanks Gabes.........I've done as much as I can do..............

I have some help so it'll all be ok..............

They made me quit taking all my supplements and boy can I tell a difference! Total believer that taking magnesium and D3 and the few other things I was taking make a difference.........dragging today! Can't wait until I can take them again! Not liking this at all!

I so feel for you Jari,

I'm sure your body isn't liking the lesser feeling of support but I'm sure it will persevere thru it for you

It sounds like you have to be fairly less-active and I sure hope you have your meditation CDs handy

Will be sending you healing thoughts as often as I can!

What a bummer, but as you say, whatever we have to do to preserve our vision is what we do. 2 weeks will seem like an eternity, but with good support it too will pass. The main thing is that it is repairable.

Best of luck to you during the surgery and recovery, and I hope that everything goes as smoothly as possible.
