My MC is Back

It has been back for a little while now, now I have changed my diet. Now, here is my question.

I have gone to a basic ground turkey and rice for every meal , and bananas and sweet potato, and apples I have added to different meals. I cut out the apples, maybe too much fiber, but it didn't help. I didn't want to take the test again, to see if I had new sensitivities, so I went basic. But since I switched my Diet, why am I feeling 10 times worse on the new diet. Same rice, same turkey, that I have ate for years. I did add the bananas and sweet potato, but those are pretty safe foods.

separate to the eating plan-
what are you drinking?
have you changed any medications?
what supplements are you taking?
has there been any stressful events - whether that be physical stress and/or mental stress and/or emotional stress?

the ground turkey? does it have rosemary extract flavouring?

do you share the kitchen? is there high risk of contamination of gluten / soy / dairy?

Thanks for the Help, but None of those questions address my Question. They may address, why my MC is back, but doesn't address why it is worse with the diet changes.

your answers to the questions will help me answer the question

there are MANY possibilities why the MC is back

- deficient in Vit D3 and magnesium - or taking too much oral magnesium
- you have new triggers (other than gluten etc) ie the rosemary extract can have soy
- excess stress can be a trigger
- some medications can flare MC - or stopping things like anti histamines may have caused it to flare
- ingredients in drinks etc can flare MC
- gradual contamination from shared kitchen

it can be any or some or all of the above.

Why it might be worse with the diet changes

ie - if you are reacting to soy (or some other new trigger), and have other issues causing inflammation like stress, and you are low in Vit D3 and magnesium etc then diet alone wont resolve the issue.

or if you reacting to new triggers, having too much oral magnesium then diet alone wont resolve the symptoms

Stress makes it impossible to eat

We all know it’s pretty darned impossible to eat when all wound up. It’s just a fact. I’ve seen this in myself and countless others I’ve spoken with. I don’t know how it works in “regular” folk, but in histamine peeps, you can pretty much bet on the stress hormones causing mast cells to break open, releasing histamine and other inflammatory elements into the body. So stress = inflammation. Inflammation = excess histamine. Excess histamine in the body = less tolerated dietary histamine.

I would like to present the concept of the inflammatory bucket. Depression, anxiety, autoimmune disease and joint pain are often times a constant struggle with patients, but there are select times when patients will feel some relief or no symptoms at all. Why is that? How can this chronic, systemic disease wax and wane abruptly? It all has to due with your LEVEL of inflammation.

the fundamental reason - MC is for life. We cant kill it off or get rid of it.
over time things change, we change and what worked 3 years ago diet wise may not work now.

I cant give you scientific reason why as there are so many variables in line with the questions I asked you, that cause inflammation and MC reactions.

I understand diet alone might not solve the problem, but cutting out a bunch of foods, shouldn't make it worse.

I take no supplements.

it can - if the foods you are eating are adding to the inflammation levels along with exposure to other triggers that are also causing the inflammation and if you are deficient in Vit D3 and magnesium.

there have been others here that have been in remission (confirmed by biopsies taken during scope etc) and major stressful event cause cause major flare.
going back to previous safe foods is not enough to resolve things. it is one of the harsh realities of life with MC.

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble resolving your symptoms. As you are well aware, everything that happens has a reason, whether we can identify that reason or not. Regarding your question, the most obvious clue is:

Some of us here react to bananas and some of us react to sweet potatoes. Have you tried cutting those 2 foods back out of your diet for a few days?

Feeling 10 times worse on a restricted diet obviously isn't typical, so we're going to need some clues/hints in order to be able to track down the answer to your question. Which symptoms seem to be 10 times worse? All of them . . . some of them? Or do you have new symptoms, such as hypoglycemia, nausea (if nausea wasn't a problem previously), or pain in a new area? IOW, can you define specifically which symptoms are making you feel "10 times worse"?

Yes, I have cut out sweet potatoes now. I hadn't reacted to Sweet potatoes before though. Not bananas Yet, But I have never reacted to them either..

I know you don't remember but my symptoms are not as strong as others. I never have Nausea or pain. I only have D and maybe more stools than normal on a couple of other days. But normally, My D is only 1 day of the week, usually at night, sort of works into a pattern. But since I have changed my diet, I have D everyday now. Except yesterday because I took Immodium the day before, so I didn't go to the bathroom yesterday.

You're right — I can't remember what I'm doing half the time, let alone what anyone else is doing.

If you've been eating those same foods for years, and still having a regular pattern that includes D (once or twice a week), I can't help but wonder if you might be sensitive to one of those foods. Here's what I would try: I would try lamb for a few days, to see if that helps, especially if you can't find any rosemary-free turkey. I don't know what to suggest to sub out the rice for a few days as another trial. Are you sensitive to potatoes? Maybe some plantains, or cauliflower. :shrug:
