An update and obtaining prescriptions from Canada

Post by suzieq »

Hi all, it's been a while. I've been doing okay. I eat a very boring diet. I've tried to add some dairy in here and there, it wasn't a good idea. My GI Dr figures I will have a flare every 6 months or so, he wasn't that encouraging. He told me that my CC will never go away and with my visits to him in the last 2 years, it seems every 6 months I get a flare. It's been almost 3 months since the quick tapering of Entocort that he had me do. All I can say is I'm holding my own.

My daughter has very bad health coverage through Obamacare. She has a $7,000 deductible before they will pay for her prescriptions. She takes generic Lexapro and can't afford the $100 + each month for her prescription. I suggested that she try to get it from Canada, it would be cheaper. Can anyone tell me how to go about doing that? I would really appreciate it. I've helped her monetarily a lot lately, I can't take this prescription on as well, so I really would appreciate any information on how to obtain prescriptions from Canada.

Thanks in advance,
Susanne

Back in 2010, I ordered Entocort from North Drugstore in Canada. I just looked on line to find something. I can't remember if they required a prescription; I kind of think I faxed it to them, or emailed it. I can't really remember. The cost was not as low as ordering from India, but I hadn't found this forum yet then, so I didn't know you could get Entocort from India.

I knew about ordering from Canada because my doctor had suggested it back when I was taking Fosamax for osteoporosis.

Others with more recent experience may weigh in the other pharmacies in Canada. I was satisfied with North Drugstore.

Unfortunately, the Indian pharmacy doesn't show a generic substitute available for Lexapro. If they had it, the cost would be about 29 % lower. Canadian pharmacies buy many of their generic products from India and then mark them up 40 %.

Prescriptions written by U. S. doctors are invalid across international borders, so the Indian pharmacy doesn't require a prescription. The Canadian pharmacies do require a prescription, presumably a feel-good gesture for U. S. regulators.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks, Tex. My daughter will be getting a new prescription shortly and will try to get in fill in Canada.

We hope that the US works out the healthcare and fixes Obamacare. My husband is now on Medicare but I have health insurance through the Marketplace. My experience hasn't been good with them. As I have to pay some of the premium credit back, my accountant told me I need contact them to make corrections so I don't owe next year. That will bring my payments way up for crappier coverage then I already have. My coverage is way better than my daughters. We have only 1 health insurance company left in NC with Obamacare. My daughter is in NY and has more choices but none are affordable for a single person living in NYC.

Thanks again!!
