Tex,
I did not see this post yesterday.....I hope you continue to feel better and sleep well also!! Not being able to breathe well would send anyone into a viscous circle with anxiety.
I've only worn a monitor for 24 hours....a week wouldn't be to bad if it's necessary, but a month like Laine might be to long of a haul for me!!

Glad you are better Tex. Mine had 3 wired electrodes to a unit you wore like a pager. Took it off to shower. It continuously monitored but had a button to push if you were having an "event". In addition you had a communicator which was a cell phone which had to be within 10 feet of the monitoring unit at all times. So, at night you wore the pager on your jammie bottoms and charged the cell phone/communicator deal on night stand next to you...During the day it was sort of better since I just put the cell phone thing in my hospital vest pocket and pager on my pants..along with my hospital pager and my own personal cell phone!!! What a nightmare!!!
I never did push the button for an event...was wearing it for elevated heart rate...haven't heard back from PCP's office yet. l though did get my $835 bill for my portion of the month long monitoring!!! What a deal...
Again- glad you are feeling better!!!

Thanks Lou Ann and Gabes.
Laine, apparently your unit was actually monitored. Mine is thin and glued on, and mostly waterproof, but it's really just a black box that could be recovered and analyzed after I crash and burn. Because of that I'm hoping that I won't be receiving an outlandish bill, but that's probably wishful thinking.

Tex,
Thinking about you. I'm glad your feeling a bit better. Please keep us posted on how the kidneys and heart are doing. Like you, I can't go much below 600 mg of mag a day or my skipped heart beats come back and insomnia issues arise. Sometimes I need 640 mg to keep symptoms at bay. I wonder if it was just a dehydration issue for you since a lot of minerals require more water?

Hi Vanessa,
That's possible, and because I wasn't sure what might have caused it, I cut my magnesium rate in half for several days. I was thirsty on the way to the ER and as you are aware, they don't let you drink anything until they're finished, so that just made any dehydration issues worse.
I didn't get but about 3 hours of sleep last night (couldn't fall asleep so I had to get up about 2 and take another magnesium tablet because I had only taken 4 during the day, and it took a couple of hours before I could get to sleep. And tree pollen is beginning to cause problems. It was noticeably worse yesterday, which also had an adverse effect on my breathing last night. I'm afraid to take an antihistamine until we find out what the monitor showed and what the cardiologist has to say about it.
But despite little sleep this week, I'm feeling great today, and I'm going to make sure that I take 500 mg of magnesium before bedtime so that I don't have another false start at trying to sleep tonight.
I have a big yard, which needs mowing, so I think I'll take care of that later, and that exercise should help me to sleep tonight.
Thanks,
Tex
