I went to see my gastro doc yesterday for a regular check up. He told me that he had plans to supervise a Norwegian doctoral thesis about Microscopic colitis. No research has been done in Norway on MC, and I consider this very good news from an exceptionally competent and responsive gastro doc.
The governmental agency that finances such research projects asks for patient participation in order to increase the relevance of the projects. The gastro doc asked me to contribute to this project, and provide some input to relevant topics and literature. Of course he knew that I've read most of what's out there.
I think I would like to put forward the need to do more research on MC and small intestinal pathology (celiac disease, NCGS) as a follow up on Fines and Koskelas research. Further on I think there is need for peer reviewed research on markers of food sensitivities in MC, like Kenneth Fine has done (not peer reviewed) and the Norwegian researcher Per Brandtzaegs group researched for RA. A third part of the project could use this info to do a trial of diet treatment of MC patients. I think this would be my input in a more elaborate form with relevant background literature.
What do you think, Tex? I think it would be nice if I was able to attach a pdf version of your book to my feedback to my gastro specialist. I've got your book in Kindle format, Tex, but is it possible for you to provide me with a PDF version?
Regards,
Tor

Question for Tex about his book
Life's hard and then you die
Tor,
What you are proposing would provide huge benefits for both patients and medical professionals alike. That type of research is extremely important for improved understanding and better treatment options for MC patients.
I will be more than happy to help in any way I can. I have 2 pdf versions of the book. 1 version is based on the printed version of the book and the other is based on the digital form of the book. The first one looks nicer, because it's formatted like a printed book, and it's for use on a computer, but the second version contains live links for navigation and for accessing references from the bibliography, just like the digital version.
I will send you a copy of both, attached to an email. I'll send it to the email address in your profile. If you can't get the files to open properly, please let me know and I'll try to track down the problem.
If there's anything else that I can do to help, please don't hesitate to ask.
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Thanks, Tex
Someone once said (or sang) that "happiness was born a twin, and those who share they will always win". You're a winner, Tex. And I appreciate your support too, Gabes.
It remains to be seen what comes of this, but it's certainly worth an effort. I'm working on my suggestion, and will send it over to the gastro doc tomorrow evening. He has listened to me on several occasions in the past (bile acid malabsorption and SeHCAT!, NCGS!, liver biopsy!), so I'm fairly optimistic. He has also found common ground with Andreas Münch, the chairman of the European Microscopic Colitis Group (EMCG), and that would be a strong team.
Thanks again, Tex
