Jari,
So glad that they can fix this!! You hang in there. You will be in my thoughts and prayers!!

This kind of reminds me of my bed rest days while pregnant. I kind of enjoyed it in the beginning, but now my house would be caving in if I had to do it again. So glad you have help. You take care and get lots of rest.

You can do this!! Find some mystery books on tape that you can listen to and get your mind wrapped up in the mystery. So you concentrate on that. I will send out prayers and good wishes for a fast couple of weeks for you.

Well, I am 16 days post op for my macular hole surgery! I went back to the doctor yesterday and the hole is completely closed and he said my eye looks terrific. I was able to read some lines of letters that I was never able to before surgery. I still have about 20 percent of the gas bubble left in my eye (I am ready for it to be gone!)! Yesterday was the first day that enough of the gas bubble was gone that I could track both eyes together and see. Before, I had to keep my left eye closed or wear a patch over it or I would get nauseous. I have been in a face down position for the full 2 weeks with very restricted activity and yesterday my doctor told me I had to do the same until the gas bubble was gone. He thought maybe another 4 or 5 days. The surgery, itself, was a piece of cake, but the recovery is really tough! No reading, no watching TV, and mostly face down makes for time standing still and some unusually LONG days!

So, how did it affect my MC? I made it through the surgery fine with the anesthesia, but woke up the first night in the middle of the night feeling sick to my stomach and also had diarrhea. That lasted about 5 hours or so. We went into the doctor that morning for my first post op appt. and the doctor said that was not unusual with anesthesia. Two weeks later, I'm still struggling with my MC some and I'm not sure if it's the after effects of the surgery or whatever might be in the eye drops that I had to put in (which I now no longer have to use - thank goodness)). Things seems to be settling down a little bit and I'm about to climb the wall. It's hard to keep a rather active person down! I have been eating really bland so as not to upset things any further than they were already upset.

Hoping this is the last time I have to go through this and that it won't affect my other eye.

Thanks for all the prayers, well wishes, etc.
Jari

So good to "hear" your voice again Jari! It sounds like you have this one under control. So wonderful that the surgery went well and you are almost through the tough recovery. Still routing for you and have you in my thoughts. :flowersmiley:

Jari,

It's great to read that the surgery worked so well and you're almost finished with the recovery. You've certainly done your part to "earn" the right to get your vision back. I'm sure that I would be on the verge of climbing the wall, too, after spending so many days in a state of "solitary confinement" imposed by having to lie face down.

You're almost there. Thanks for the update.

Just thinking of you, Jari and there you are. I am so happy the surgery went well and sight is improving. Your gut will come along too. The stress of laying face down probably gave you more gut issues than before the surgery. So keep on keeping on. :bigbighug: to you!

Thanks for all the well wishes. I am now 3 weeks to the day of surgery. My gas bubble is gone (at least the part that was blocking my vision), but there is still some residual. I'm told it takes awhile for your body to completely absorb the gas. My vision is still distorted, but I can already see better than I did before surgery and am hoping that since I'm still in the very early stages of healing, that it will keep getting better and better.

My issue is that I have now had watery diarrhea every morning (for about 3 hours) since this past Monday. Since I'm eating bland and safe foods, I can only believe that there is something in the gas being absorbed into my system that my body really doesn't like. I haven't done anything different. I need this to go away! It's wreaking havoc on my body!

Just seems like there's always something!

I'm so glad you don't have to face the "chair" anymore  and that the gas bubble has dissipated!

I'm sure your body is quite unhappy right now....and I hope for your sanity the immune system starts to back off soon

The combo of anesthetic, change in routine and mild amount of stress while you waited for the results would be enough to cause the WD.

it will settle down as you relax and get back to your routine

happy healing
