Annual Nostalgia Festival - cars and dancing

Post by Gabes-Apg »

Thee events are not just about classic cars - people attending dress up in 50's attire, (cultured and rockabilly) there are bands, dance demonstrations, fashion parade competitions etc. most of all - lots of fun (where food and alcohol are not the main focus which is great for me!) and lots of good photography opportunities for me to enjoy.

dancing - my brothers dance group performed as one of the key acts:

take note in this shot the mid air shot - both my brother and another dance group member have got both feet in the air, i got the photo of them mid air.....

This performance group - Sydney Swing Katz did some dances at the event on the Saturday - WOW WOW WOW
videos of their performances on the weekend on are not online yet - but here is a video of the same song/routine

The cars (and my brothers grandchildren)

In this photo - orange hot rod (1939 chevy), the peaches and cream 1955 Chevy next to it, and the yellow 1956 Chevy is also my brothers

my drive is the one on the right of photo (sort of main feature) - and to the left of photo another 3 of my brothers cars

For anyone interested in classic cars (or if you partners are) here is a fantastic collection of most of the cars that were at the event... http://exposemyridephotography.zenfolio.com/p145812700 (and I am in one of the photos)

So wonderful to see your fun day, I love all the cars and beautiful outfits. You look just stunning and you have the cutest dimples !!
That red car is just beautiful it is so YOU !!

Love the dancing in the video too, the children are amazing !

I was smiling ear to ear while enjoying your photo's and my husband walked by and said what-cha smiling about...
I showed him your photo's. He said us Americans need to do up our car shows like that...

Thank You for taking the time to share- truly this was just what I needed - I felt like I was there !

Hey that is an amazing shot where your brother & his partner's feet are off the ground, the photo is perfect, not even blurry !

There are some shows like that in the USA, moreso about the cars not the dancing.

there are quite a few of these festivals on the east coast of Australia during the year.
and car shows are a great social culture in Australia - doesnt matter what your day job is, how much your annual income is, or what your religious beliefs or political beliefs are, it is about enjoying your car, and admiring other peoples hard work. It is very grounding, and as I mentioned to be able to socialise and have fun where food and alcohol is not part of it.

glad you enjoyed it, and your hubby did as well.

some of the upcoming scheduled events in the next two weeks are at threat of being cancelled. the cyclone that hit the state north of me has impacted the weather around us. We have had lots of rain and there is more on the way...
Suburbs/areas that I used to live 10-14 year ago are flooded righted now.

... and you can tell from the photos you posted - sadly that isn't the culture around any of the cars shows I have seen, by a few yes but well it's just seems different here...

sorry about all the rain and flooding, we just went through a terrible rainy & flood season here too. From a 5 year drought to major flooding and a big damn close to me almost fell apart. It's scary and I always worry for the furry ones !
Stay safe.
:itsme:

P.S. Harley, Jayden & Mia are adorable
