Magnesium Dosage (for me)

Post by starfire »

I've been taking 800 mg for at least 2-3 weeks now. Been having watery D for over a week. Suddenly dawned on me this morning (after I had swallowed the mag supplements) that the mag is probably what is causing the D. Took me long enough to remember that too much can do that. LOL

Yes, once they rebuild your reserves most people only need a small dose, like 100 or 200 mg to meet their daily needs. The big dose is only for rebuilding reserves. 800 mg is a lot of magnesium.

Thank you for pointing that out.

After 18 months I concluded that I only need to bump my magnesium from 500mg daily to 700 when my hormones give me fits for a few days each month  Other than that I have healed enough so far that I can usually get away with topical and 100mg in the a.m. and another 100mg in the later evening.

A little reminder never hurts

Isn't it great, though when the light comes on?! I've had those "ah ha" moments and so glad I was able to figure it out.

If I experience C, which happens occasionally, all I do now is take about 400 mg of Magnesium and it fixes it... like clock work the next day. :) I recommend it to anyone who is C prominent.
