Talking about slithery things
A red bellied black snake slithered into our yard from a clump of bushes next door yesterday. I did not see it, Robert did & it went up beside our garage. By the time he got back with a shovel it had disappeared. There are probably a few more around as well. They are quite dangerous. Our daughter, who is on 5 acres up the coast living in a lot of bush tells us that the wildlife fellow says that if you have Red Bellied Blacks you won't get any King Browns, or is it the other way around, must ask her again. The King Browns are one of the most venomous snakes in the world. She has had snakes in the house even, a Red Bellied Black was caught in Indiabeaus toybox a couple of years ago. Apparently the King Browns eat the Red Bellied Black young.
Being very careful when I go down the yard. We often have Carpet Snakes around but they are pretty harmless although they can grow pretty big.
Love

Hi Barb
Lost this post last time I tried. Looked like the board was down for a while. Or it could have been to do
with the phone line problems we are having. We have not had a landline since Saturday. It is now Tuesday & it still isn' t on. Funny thing, it does nor seem to effect the broadband connection.
I am glad that you & Lou are settling down a bit. Neither of you need that sort of stress. It is about time you started to consider what all this is doing to the health of you both & put you & Lou first.
That guy was brave, you would not have seen me for dust. There is a bit of a plague of snakes here at the moment. Probably because of the dry, they are looking for moisture near the houses & sheds. I don't like snakes or spiders. Have had nightmares about them.
Cut out another quilt yesterday. Will start to sew it up today. Pretty hot at the moment, going to get Robert to move my machine into the computer room with the airconditioning. This one is for Jane, she is the only one who has not received one as yet. I still have to quilt the last top that I did but I am waiting to finish this one so I can pin them up together. I have a big board that is put over my tabletop so that the
backing can be clipped to it. This makes it easier to pin up. Can't get down on the floor to do it anymore, well I can get down, but I can't get up again.
Feeling a bit better, have had a couple of days in the past week with D but not tooo severe. Leg & back are the worse problems. Having Physio again tomorrow & Friday. Don't think the back will get any better but at least it may feel a for a while. Bl--dy old age. Leg seems to be improving until I actually do something like going shopping. Last time I could hardly walk by the time I got home.
Take care
Lotsa love

I am with the rest of you about hating dangerous snakes. The other kind don't bother me much but I wouldn't want to grab hold of one by mistake.
I never gave snakes or spiders much thought until I moved here and now I often think about running into a "Coral Snake" or "Brown Recluse Spider". Very afraid of both of those. Haven't seen any so far.
You be very careful, Liz.
Love, Shirley
