New Research Results On Artificial Sweeteners

Post by tex »

Hi All,

New research has shown some evidence that artificial sweeteners are associated with stroke and dementia. People in the study who drank at least one artificially sweetened soft drink per day had almost three times the risk of having a stroke when compared with people who drank less than one a week.

Do Diet Sodas Pose Health Risks?

But no, this wasn't the cause of my stroke — I never touch artificial sweeteners.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Yikes!!

I don't drink diet stuff, never have. Worse tasting product ever for me.

Have not used artificial sweeteners in anything either. Products that have that stuff in it have the worse ingredient listing line up that I've ever seen!

Glad you steer clear of it too

Prior to my LC diagnosis I drank one diet Coke a day. It was my one vice. Now the thought of drinking one makes me want to gag. I can't fathom that I used to drink that poison.

Angela,
What toothpaste do you use? They all seem to have artificial sweeteners
Thanks,

there are lot of natural and safe toothpastes (free of gluten, chemicals, sweeteners etc) - i buy earthpaste from iherb
you can also make your own using coconut oil and baking soda.

Toothpaste

Thanks Gabes! I will look more closely in the health food section of our Sprouts grocery store. I'll check out Earthpaste also.
Lately on Facebook, I have seen something called "The Dirt" toothpaste. It is Free of Gluten, Soy, Xylitol, Paleo, and Vegan. Has cinnamon so I don't know how that would be with my Sjogrens. My gums might not like that.

earthpaste is similar to the dirt - there is unflavoured / no cinnamon version

Debbie, I am glad Gabes responded. I am so new to this I had no idea. I have not worked on non-food items yet (with the exception of Vit D and Mag). Thought something I could eat was safe - it wasn't. This process is definitely two steps forward and one step back (at least for me). I keep thinking what Gabes says "progress not perfection".

Thank you both, for the question and the answer!
