Help with IgA, IgG, IgM test results

Post by desche »

I had the IgA, IgG, IgM tests suggested in Tex's book so that I can then go on to the Entero Lab testing but I don't know what the results mean. I don't think I will hear back from my GI doc anytime soon so I was wondering if someone could help me.

IgA 169mg/dL Reference range 50-400
IgG 1250 mg/dL Reference range 767-1590
IgM 64mg/dL Reference range 37-286
Tissue Transglut IgA Ab <1.2 u/mL Reference range <4.0
Gliadin IgA <10.0 Reference range <20.0 Negative
Gliadin IgG <10.0 Reference range <20.0 Negative

From what I have read it is not as simple as just being in the range. How high or low you fall in the range means different things??
Also, no surprise, my GI doctor said that Dr. Fine's tests have no scientific data to back them up and does not advise me to have them done. I plan to do so anyway. I need help. I continue to have no relief and I am so very afraid. I am disappearing quickly.
Thank you for your help. Debbie

Debbie,

Your IgA test result is the one that counts, and your result is fine. The EnteroLab tests will work just fine for you.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Pepto and EnteroLab Test

Post by desche »

Thank you Tex. Just one more quick question. Is it ok to do the testing if you are taking Pepto Bismol tablets or Immodium? Will the adversely effect the results?

Thanks again,
Debbie

Yes, the tests will work fine. Taking budesonide for several months might have some effect, but taking Pepto-Bismol and Imodium will have no effect on the results.

You're very welcome.
