Hi Leah - It is good to hear from you, but I am sorry to hear you've been in a flare. It sounds like things may already be turning around for you. Wishing you continued quick healing.
Monique - It's good to hear from you also. You are right... "when you start thinking that you are like everybody else." I've been there myself. Have felt great for so long that at times I begin to believe I'm like everyone else. Definitely not true!

"You'll never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have."
"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass... It's learning to dance in the rain."

If you're able to correct it, and it doesn't reoccur constantly, you may be OK without any surgery to correct it.
Good luck.

Good luck.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Leah, nice to see you back on the board. I'm really sorry about your flare, and hope you get all under control soon.
Nice to see you, too, Monique!
I got through my breast cancer surgeries and radiation without an MC flare, so I'm happy about that. I finished radiation last week. Still feeling fatigued, but as long as I don't try to do too much, I am managing okay.
Love,
Martha

Hi Martha. I DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE GOING THROUGH BREAST CANCER TREATMENT! Sorry to hear it ( I know what it's like. I am actually going in for my mammogram today three years post treatment) but it sounds like you are on the mend. The worst is over.
I am feeling much better already. I haven't tested any bothersome foods yet ( like salad), but I will get there soon :)
Take care of yourself!

Leah, I'm glad you are doing well after your breast cancer. I did know that you had dealt with that, and the fact that you once mentioned you were on Effexor made me brave enough to go on it when I had to go off HRT. My surgeon is very encouraging, saying that DCIS is the best kind of breast cancer to have, if you have to have it!

Leah, the Effexor seems to be working for the mood swings, but it doesn't do anything for hot flashes. The mood swings were my main concern, as they were completely debilitating. I've been on Effexor since mid-January, when I was diagnosed.
I am not taking any hormone-suppressing drugs. My cancer is hormone receptor negative, so the drugs wouldn't help. HR-negative cancer is more aggressive, and more prone to recur, so that is in the back of my mind. If it does recur, I'll have a mastectomy. This time I had a lumpectomy.
I hope the Effexor keeps on working for me. How long was it effective for you?
