Finally I found my way

Post by Lilja »

Hi all,

I have been a member of this board for two years now, and I have learned a lot as to what to eat and what not, which has lead me to a new direction. The most important lesson I have found was from a group of people who believe in old traditional food.

So, now I eat raw liver from chicken and lambs, I make bone broth from grass fed cattle, eat organic egg yolks, eat gelatine, salted and fermented meat, sour dough bread, I make fermented milk directly from cows, fermented cod liver oil, and pinches of unrefined sea salt at least four times a day. And, to be able to eat the raw liver, I drink kefir made from cow's milk with the liver, milk directly from the cow - unpasteurized and not homogenized.

I think this is the true way to good health. In February I will be 70 years old, but I have not felt this energetic in my whole life!

My poop has never been this solid, I don't run to the bathroom 20 times a day, I have finally started to gain some weight, and I don't wake up 4 times during the night to run to the toilet

Lilja,

Good for you. Yes, food is the best medicine.

Thank you for sharing this update.

Thank you Gabes and Tex.

I'm so grateful that my health has become so much better. Not only have I regained energy, but the evidence is also visible; my hair has stopped falling out, I have put on some weight, and my thumb nails who were deformed and looked like claws, have no grown back to normal.

Life is good!

Lilja
when I was first Dx''d with MC I was doing a lot of family history research.

based on the reading and research I did at the time about MC, auto immune etc. I adopted the eating plan of my Irish/English ancestors.
Meat on the bone (mostly lamb) cooked slowly with the vegetables. Lots of home made bone broth. 2-3 vegetables.

going back to the staples of our ancestors is important - eating what we were genetically meant to eat.
I wish I had the courage to embrace offal... (liver etc)

Now where else but on this forum could you ever hope to see someone wish someone else well with such a kind, thoughtful and unique remark? That's Potty People phraseology at it's best.

Tex,
That's what I love with this forum!

I forgot to mention the importance of magnesium, both magnesium on the skin, and Epsom-salt baths and foot soaks.

I don't visit the forum as often as I did, but isn't that typical for people who have recovered/or are in remission?

What about the fat?

Post by desche »

I am so glad this works for so many but it seems for me that diet would not work because any fat seems to cause more diarrhea. I need some protein but when I tried lamb chops the result was WD. I can get away with a little white meat turkey or chicken but not the dark meat. I made bone broth but am afraid to try it.
Do you all skim the fat off the top of the bone both?
I can't figure out how to get enough calories or nutrition to stay alive. Rice, bananas, applesauce and white toast is not cutting it anymore. I just keep losing weight.
Thanks for any help.

Debbie
when you cooked the lamb chops how did you cook them?

are you having small amount of protein every meal and snack?

the other issue with your eating plan is no well cooked veges - these would be more favourable than having the white toast. A good option is to cook the veges in the bone broth (this will increase protein content and flavour)

I do not skim the fat off the bone broth, in saying that I don't consume the bone broth on its own, it is always in soup, stew with safe proteins and safe veges.

Also - when you first had the lamb chops did you have small serve first day, wait 24 hours and then have second small serve etc

when trying any ingredient, we strongly recommend that you have small serve, wait 24 hours have another small serve, wait another 24 hours and have another small serve, if after the third try if there are symptoms then it is very likely you are reacting.
just like when a baby is migrating from milk to solids, you give small amounts and the first poop is always different, as their bodies are adjusting to new ingredient etc.

Hi Gabes,
I just broiled the lamb chops, nothing on them except a little salt.
And no I certainly did not small serve. Didn't know about that and I was so hungry.
Also, I tried some well cooked veggies (just boiled in water). The first day was a small serving of carrots and the next day was carrots and well cooked green beans. That didn't go well either.
Sounds like I am moving too fast. Guess I will start again tomorrow and be more careful. I'll try cooking tomorrow's rice in the bone broth and add more protein with meals and snacks.

I think I feel like I am starving and getting scared. I will slow it down and start over.
Thank you for your helpful suggestions and for listening.

thats what we are here for. -

yes, any new item (even if you ate it before MC dx) start with small serving - no more than 1/3 -1/2 cup.
new ingredients will cause mild reactions, it is after the third small serving that you can decide if you can tolerate the ingredient

dont try more than one thing at once, and dont trial another new ingredient for at least a week after a previous trial. If the trial goes badly wait a few weeks before trialling another ingredient.

this sort of information is detailed in the guidelines to recovery section
