Weird BM and eye spasm
The past couple of weeks have presented me with some different things to think (worry) about. I've been using cholestyramine for about 7 months (1dose before bed) and was doing fine. Then a couple of weeks ago I started having loose stools again and my left eye has been twitching. The stools have also been a little strange in that the first morning elimination is both solid AND WD at the same time. I been trying to research these and have maybe discovered the problem. I say maybe because it could be one of 3 things (????) I think. Not enough magnesium, too much magnesium, not enough B12.
K2 is the only new supplement I've added recently. Currently using 5000 D3, 30 sprays of life flow mag, B-Complex and Claritin red. I haven't added any diet changes lately, pretty much stage 1 going on there.
Anyone have a thought on this? I'm perplexed!

eye twitching for me, was related to low magnesium.
are you taking active B12 in the B complex
does it have active form of B6 - P5P??
with season change and spring, is there an increase of histamine triggers in your external environment? if so your body may be using more magnesium and B6 to balance histamine levels.

Hi Gabes,
I suspected low mag over high from reading past posts here. But then I read that symptoms of high mag can mimic the same as for low. Thus my confusion!
From what I gather I am taking active B's. I order from Jarrow. B-Right says it has methyl cobalamin B12, Pantethine and P-5-P on the front label.
And YES on high spring activity this year. Lots of high wind that blows who-knows-what through here. I was thinking about switching from Clariton to something else to see if that will help the gobs of mucus that is being generated.
From looking back on the above list I think I know where this is headed. It's all of the above, right?

Hi LauraAnn,
I am southeast of you in the BB region and man, the allergies here are crazy due to the high winds and gosh-knows-what is blowing around. I had some asthma attacks, unusual for me these days and some GERD and even some MC trouble.
I had to take a steroid for the asthma and I'm really watching my diet. But I think a lot of my symptoms right now are due to seasonal allergy. I take most of the same vitamins as you but I don't take magnesium, normally, however bathe in epsom salt daily and hope that does the trick.
I'd love to get to EP to go to Whole Foods soon.
Take care!

Hello,
I unfortunately don't have an answer for you but I wanted to let you know you aren't alone: when my MC was active, I also had eye twitches in one eye only. Plus, there were days where my BM were sold and loose at the same time. I have no research to back it up, but looking back, I believe that a lot of the secondary symptoms I had (not just the eye twitches but also "sliced" skin at the corners of my mouth, fatigue, dry skin, muscle twitches, cramps in my feet, etc.) were a result of not being able to absorb nutrients when I was active. I suspected low magnesium and other potential nutrients, but never nailed down what it was. The only relief I got was sticking to the "stage 1" diet until I mostly normalized, avoiding problem foods (I don't eat gluten, dairy, legumes, grains or nightshades, and I keep my sugar intake to a very, very low amount (which includes avoiding most fruit, sadly)), and then being very careful to get all of my nutrients, preferably in food form. I actually track my micronutrients on Crono-Meter to be sure I'm getting everything. With that plan in place, I take vitamin D every day, and only occasionally supplement with magnesium when I can't get it from food. And I'm doing well on that plan. Much more than you asked for, but I hope that helps?

My eye twitching has stopped with topical magnesium use. Hope you are doing better!
Season change affects my BMs every time. Even the type of allergan, now it's grass and I seem to be doing better. Spring trees blooming cause my worst symptoms.

My weirdness seems to straightened out for the most part. The twitchy eye has calmed down and the poop is acting a lot better. I did change antihistamine and added a few more sprays of magnesium so maybe I just needed a little change in my life! Diet is still pretty boring but I am not going to mess with success at this time.
Thanks to all of you for the helpful advice and the kind words.
