Hi Wen....

You are right there is a degree of sting to the product if one is shaving on a regular basis....and there tends to be a slight twinge at the beginning of use of Magnesium oil, but that dissipates once the body gets used to it. The twinge only affected me for a couple days, after that my body was loving the daily application.

I have never had LifeFlo plug up on me whether it be the oil or lotion. I have gone thru perhaps 8 bottles total in the last 2 years plus Epsom salt foot soaks or body soaks in the tub.

I have super sensitive skin also. I used to live in Seattle, but the dr there told my mom I needed to get to a warmer dryer climate hence why I now live in Eastern WA State  But I am doing lots better health wise and the skin isn't nearly as touchy anymore. I feel since I have helped my immune system in the last 2 years my body is the happiest it has been in a long time and I'll be 50 in a couple months

Erica,

I'm so glad that you're doing so much better! Today I feel the best that I have since the morning of April 30! Grateful. Simply salt rice crackers by Nabisco or a nice substitute to eating rice which I'm really tired of, but grateful for.

I will take a look at Whole Foods to see what magnesium spray or lotion they have since it'll be easier to return if it doesn't agree with me. Are there other brands that you have tried or read about on this forum?

I love Epsom salt baths before bed and have started up again doing that. I love the water and look forward to the beach when I'm ready. By the way Washington state is beautiful. I visited a few years ago and loved hiking there!

Hi Wen,

As far as topical magnesium goes the LifeFlo was the least expensive one I've found and has worked extremely well for many on this forum. There have a been a small few who felt the topical didn't do enough for them and needed to take something internally, which there are many avenues to try regarding that too.

So happy to hear you are feeling better this day  Slow and steady and lots of safe repetitious food are what heals us.

Stay the course and you will be much happier as it sounds like you are making gains already!

PS I appreciate the PNW and have made South E. Wa my home for most my life now

Hey again Erica,

Is magnesium usually tested during routine blood tests and is there a special name for it besides magnesium?

Maybe the spray would be less problematic if I put it on my thighs and upper legs instead of where I shave or have had itchiness in the past ( arms near elbow crease and hands)

I'm grateful for today! I better get going I have a handyman coming soon.

Wen
re your skin irritation / itchiness - what creams and body products are you using?
double check the ingredients for things like oatmeal, wheatgerm and Vit E (soy) I react badly to creams with high Vit E content especially on skin that has been shaved.

I use coconut oil, pure shea butter or lanolin products only

re the magnesium oil, yes upper legs, stomach, neck are good areas to use it. A good way to get regular application is to have some of the oil in the bathroom and do the top of your legs everytime you go to the loo.

Gabes,

The only thing that bothers me and lotions is fragrance so everything I use is fragrance free and sensitive. I've only had one itchy episode (that woke me up) in the last three weeks and that's because I haven't shaved my legs. I've never had this issue before. It all started immediately after Trump got elected ironically. I was stressed to say the least about that. I have avoided watching the news in the last three weeks. Taking hot baths also can make my skin itchy so I try to take warm baths. My dermatologist told me not to take hot showers or baths but I never had an issue with it before so I disregarded his advice. Now I am more careful because it's awful being woken up in the middle of the night itching! lol I guess I'll just be a hippie until I get my social life back. 😆

when I had excess histamine issues, I too would get itchy after hot showers/hot baths...

not any more since I fixed magnesium and B6 deficiency.

In March I have blood work done and it showed my vitamin B and vitamin D were fine. I don't know if I've ever had a blood work test for magnesium. Hmmm

unlikely that your blood test would have included testing for B6 - it is most likely for B12

Wen,
what I am writing about below, is not meant to overwhelm you or disregard the value of blood tests, more so to help you embrace the suggestions being made.

I just copied this paragraph about B12 testing
The most common test is serum B12 - The reference range can be set as low as <110 - 900 ng/l in some parts of the UK. This is a problem as the test often misses desperately deficient people.
The serum B12 test, records all B12 in the blood, active and inactive (B12 Analogues), it does not record what is happening at cellular level.
The body cannot access inactive B12 and this can represent as much as 80% of the level showing in serum.
There are documented problems with the accuracy of this test, however many health professionals are not aware of this. Click here to read the NEQAS  B12 alert.
long story short -the test result may well come back 'in range' - but the reality is that up to 80% of the B12 is not currently useable by the body. That is why we encourage members to supplement with the active forms of B12 and B6 (P5P).
as we mentioned in the other discussion - having good levels of Vit D3 is important but the body needs magnesium to use the Vit D3 properly.

the other aspect to this is - the test result is at a fixed point in time. I know from my own personal experience that my Vit D3 level halved in a period of 2 months when there was excess Stress (moving interstate etc)

in the past 12 months or so from experience of members here - we have learnt that with good Vit D3 levels, and supplementation with magnesium (whether that be orally or topically or combo of both) AND active forms of B6 and B12, there can be VAST improvement MC wise and with other health issues linked or not linked to the MC.

Most people here can gauge that that they need more of something or less of something supplement wise via 'listening to their bodies' - for season changes, or high stress periods, or if you get the flu, have anesthetic etc increase the dose to support the body through that period.

hope this helps

Erica / Gabes,

I will add B6/B12 sublingual liquid to my whole food shopping list and look for something that doesn't have any sorbitol or other artificial sweeteners. I have sub lingual B12 pills in my cupboard that I haven't used in two years that expired in 6/2016 that has sorbitol. In the past it didn't bother me at all that right now I don't want to take any chances. Is B6 usually in the B 12 sublingual liquid? Are used to order it online in bulk and it was in a plastic dropper and the liquid was red.

What's the difference between the link you shared with me Erica for the magnesium spray and this one that says it's a sensitive formulation? There are no product reviews for this one.

Thanks all!

I decided to try the 30 day Amazon prime membership and I'm ordering things right now. It seems that some sub lingual B complex or B 12 have sorbitol in them. In the past it hasn't caused me any issues when I've taken sublingual B liquid but I'm being cautious right now after what I've been through. Any sub lingual liquid B6 and B 12 product to recommend especially if it's on Amazon or at Whole Foods?

Thanks! Wen

P.S. Since I'm starting to feel like the rice is binding me up a bit too much. More in than out. I'm thinking of cooking the rice so it's normal (20 minutes cook time, 1 cup rice to 2 cups water than the 4 cups of water I've been doing. That way it's more firm and perhaps won't constipate me potentially. Thoughts?

Also, thinking of buying 3 apples tomorrow to bake until mushy (an hour at 350 F) with a little brown sugar. It will have a little fiber moreso than the applesauce. I'm thinking baked apples without eating skin would be easy on me than mushy carrots at this stage. When I'm ready for mushy carrots, do you think fresh, frozen crinkle carrots or oh the horrors "canned"? I'm guessing frozen or fresh would be better, but I've read that canned veggies are broken down more. I am not a canned food type person but...

Heading out for my first outing in the car (45 minute drive to my 3pm hair appointment if all goes well) in city traffic. I've only been driving a mile to the store and CVS when I feel up to it.

Thanks for any advice in this regard. If I have the energy after hair appointment, I'll either go to Whole Foods or Publix. I have some returns to do at Whole Foods.

Wen, I just wanted to mention that I found magnesium oil in bulk at my local health food store and it was quite economical especially if you brought your own container. Deb

HI Wen,
Give this one a whirl...it appears to be just Magnesium oil also so give it a try  If it works well let us know!

I've been taking B6 P5P active form in tiny tablet form to stay away from any extra or sweet ingredients, the amount of sorbitol in the B12 doesn't seem to be that much of an issue because we don't get a very big dose of it in that tiny sublingual form.

Be careful with Apples and Brown sugar in the early stages....regardless if they are over cooked they still have measurable amounts of fiber and sugar enough to keep one in a flare. If you are using it to help relieve constipation then do a little bit, just don't over do

Cheers
Erica
