Wild Planet Sockeye Salmon

Post by Marcia K »

I just returned from my son's college graduation weekend. I knew we would dine out one evening but I planned ahead for the evening that his roommate's parents were having a catered dinner. I purchased canned Wild Planet Sockeye Salmon on Vitacost. It was very good and it had a pull off tab which made it easy to open. Before we went to the dinner I had the salmon, butternut squash that I took in a Tupperware container and vegetables that I steamed at home. It was perfect. I hadn't met the parents before and I didn't have to go into an explanation of why I couldn't eat what they were having. I simply said that I had dinner already due to the lateness of the hour and it would keep me awake. That wasn't untrue, it was after 8:00 p.m. and I never eat that late. They asked me to bring a cake which I took from a hometown baker. No one asked me why I wasn't having cake. It turned out to be a very nice evening and I even had a glass of wine, which is rare for me but my son only graduates once! On Friday evening when we ate out I ordered a steak and steamed broccoli. My husband ordered the same steak and they were switched (medium vs medium well.) I couldn't taste anything but the next morning I woke up with a headache but I'll never know if it was from the hotel pillow or gluten. I didn't realize that my husband ordered the same type of steak as me or I would have chosen something different. It rained all weekend but there was sunshine in my heart.

I'll bet the headache was from the sulfites in the wine. That's why I stopped drinking it many years ago. Glad it went well, otherwise.

Hi, Tex. I had a headache Saturday morning, I didn't drink the wine until Saturday evening. I felt fine on Sunday morning so I think I was ok with the wine. I remember years ago when I drank red wine I would be stuffy the next day so I definitely think I had issues with red wine. Glad to see you again!

Glad you had such a successful event :-)

Weather still kinda effects me....extra B6 has been a real help...it could have been extra histamine somewhere ;-)

Marcia
what a wonderful wonderful post - so happy that it all worked out, even more so that you didn't feel too self conscious about your eating choices.
I suspect the headache was adrenalin/stress related. with the preparation food wise and excitement, it can be impacting on our sensitive MC bodies!

Thanks Erica & Gabes. It probably was a combination of weather/stress. I did the driving in the rain and then unloaded the car because my husband still isn't able to walk without assistance. All in all it was a great weekend!

So glad you had a good time Marcia and your husband was able to go. Just curious if you ever experienced histamine issues while you were recovering?

I would love to be able to eat the canned salmon, but worried about too many histamines. I have been outside for 2 long days with my children's track events and I'm suffering from it. I read about vitamin C helping, so I'm going to increase that along with my B(s) patch. You should see my body, I'm covered in vitamin patches😀....
