Microwave ovens are handy for defrosting/reheating.
I'll leave the cooking question to someone who actually knows how to cook, since I don't.

defrosting uncooked meat and cooking it for short period does not cause histamine issues
the two main things that cause higher histamine in relation to meat cooking are
a) long slow cooking
b) cooking, then storing in fridge for more than 24 hours, the consuming it
I suggest baking the bones for an 11/2 hours so on high temp so the meat is basically cooked (dependig on the size) - then use to make bone broth

Erica,
Thank you for sharing your recipe. I would suggest that you edit your recipe since I read further down in the thread of this conversation that your recipe shouldn't be cooked so long in the crockpot. I copied and pasted your recipe, but now need to figure out how long I should cook a turkey breast for. I'm going to have to use store-bought broth until I have a little more energy to try bone broth recipe ... for the first time. I'm not a cook so all of this seems a little overwhelming.
Very dear friend of mine is going to cook for me tomorrow and bring things over in the early evening. I think she's going to bake the turkey breast and store-bought broth, sea salt and basted with olive oil. I suggested that she add some carrots into the bland broth and possibly a little bit of brown sugar or honey. Any suggestions or ideas to make it taste better and moist?
I cannot eat Costco sliced turkey meat anymore. I need freshly cooked. I ate The other out of desperation and exhaustion but six days of it has me depressed. Too salty.
I try to have a cup of steamed carrots tonight and hopefully will continue eating them. I'm going to switch out the white rice to boiled potatoes with a little bit of olive oil and store-bought chicken broth. It seems white potatoes have a little bit more fiber since white rice has zero fiber. Maybe for the next few days have rice for breakfast and then potatoes for lunch or dinner with the turkey and carrots. I'm starving and can't wait to have this food she is making me! She is bringing me a crockpot to use so I need to learn how to use it and figure out what to make since I'm going to stick with turkey for a while and then maybe try broiled lamb chops when I'm more stable/strong. Tex told me lamb is tolerated by many. I'm thinking of doing the enterolab C1 testing for the meats and nuts etc. I think that's the name of the test.
I am curious how recent you need to have eaten the items they test for in order for it to be effective. Also I was tested in 2013 and it showed sensitivity to gluten and borderline 10 for casein. All the others came back negative for sensitivity. Do those things change? I've never had a sensitivity to soy or eggs. Eggs were always one of my safe foods. I'm thinking I ate a soft boiled egg too soon after having a bout with D two weeks ago. During a regular flair, I normally stick to chicken and turkey once I am stable after the brat diet and do fine. This is my first severe flare from eating way too much rich food at a restaurant which I rarely ever do.

It depends on if you have histamine issues how long to cook the bone broth. I don't have any issue with it and I actually cook my bone broth in my crockpot on low for a couple of days. So, it will vary by person.

I don't know what histamine issues are besides having environmental allergies and sneezing or itching. Not familiar with this. I guess I will look online for bland recipes for bone broth.

to expand on Tex's reply and links he has provided - histamine / mast cell issues are common for MC'ers.
External triggers like pollen, pollution etc can make the inflammation reactions to food worse for MC'ers when there is excess histamine. and this may well be the case with your current flare given it has happened in Springtime. taking antihistamines can remove the symptoms.
long term, fixing magnesium deficiency and balancing B6 levels can stabilise histamine levels.
no recipes needed for bland bone broth
- water, salt and meat bones. you can add your safe veges in when you make up meals.
I cook large batches of bone broth and freeze them in day or two day portions. and then defrost them and cook them as soupy stews with my safe protein and vege(s)
and I make up large batch of stew and freeze this in portion size.
hope this helps

Thanks for the information. Appreciated. This severe flareup which is a first for me was caused by eating out at a restaurant which I rarely do and I ate things that I avoid. High dairy fat, overly buttery fried hashbrowns and a whole piece of Keylime pie. Total insanity. I've had this condition for quite some time so I know it doesn't have to do with spring time or environmental allergies. It's from making a very poor decision. I was doing pretty great before this.
Last night I added fiber due to slow motility - almost a half a cup of steamed soft carrots to my diet/dinner for 1st time since flare and I had a more normal longer BM today. For a late breakfast I had a half cup of regular cooked white rice, applesauce and 1/2 c. steamed soft carrots. I added 2 tsp olive oil to the 1 c of rice I cooked. Need some fat. Within 45 minutes of eating this late breakfast I had medium nausea and lack of appetite for about four hours. No D. I ended up going the second time which was normal.
My system hasn't digested fiber in 3 1/2 weeks. I'm eating very light tonight portion wise. From your experience, how long does it take for your body to start digesting minimal to moderate fiber in carrots after a bad flare? I'm planning on eating a half a cup of steamed carrots mid day only until the discomfort and nausea stop while digesting. Or maybe a fourth of a cup midday and evening. Any encouragement in this regard would be appreciated.
I'm a little confused about the medication I was prescribed but have not taken yet. I had diarrhea on and off for two weeks earlier this month and only ate carbohydrates for fear of D. Today is my sixth or seventh day of eating sliced turkey. Tomorrow I will have fresh crockpot bland turkey breasts which will be a welcomed change from the salty sliced turkey! I went on a tangent but my question is will the Budesdine help me despite not having diarrhea for over 10 to 12 days because of my very restricted carbohydrate no fiber diet that I was on trying to control the D. I've got mixed messages from different people. There is a very good chance I would have diarrhea again if I try to eat a normal bland diet in normal portions. I'm inflamed.
The nausea and 'roid flareup has been rough this week.
TIA

based on everything you have shared in the posts and the PM's etc
As you dont have ongoing urgent D all day - then I dont think that budenside will provide the improvements you seek.
if you dont want to stay on the current eating plan and do different eating plan and 'rely' on the budenside to stop the D then do it.
if you are willing to consider that histamine could be contributing to the issues, I would suggest trying antihistamines. you will know within a few days if this will help. if it doesnt help then rethink if you want to do the budenside.

As someone who has had more C issues with my MC than D, and observations of others that had more C related issues than D, there is limited scope of the medications like budenside, pepto, cholestryamine providing good long term benefit.
for those with C issues, or alternating D and C issues, there is a different level of intensity.
I spent over 12 months that my poop was with D or C.
it was not until I fixed nutritional deficiencies, balanced histamine etc that I got normal poop and D and C issues only occur when I stray from my routine (eating plan and/or lifestyle plan etc)
