Applesauce

Post by StaceyB »

Hi, what are your thoughts on applesauce as being a safe food.

My husband has lymphocytic colitis and is severely intolerant to corn and its myriad of derivatives. He may or may not have a fructose assimilation issue as he has reacted to berries and pears-- though both could have been washed and/or coated with corn derivatives.
He is eating organic applesauce daily, and still having flares. He mostly eats soupy meats, basmati rice, eggs, and some potatoes as his regular diet, so it seems like the applesauce is the culprit, but I am not sure.

Thanks!

depends on the ingredients of the apple sauce...

if it is homemade with just apple and minimal low GI sugar then it might be ok
if it is commercial/off the shelf and has too much sugar or other ingredients then that might be why it is causing issues

for me personally - it was a few years of healing before i could tolerate small amounts of apple.
