I cranked up the cholestyramine after that horrible ?infection that I had awhile ago and haven't backed down. Yesterday and today I noticed some of my poop is now floating. This is new, have never seen this before.
Googling it, it says fat malabsorption. Super duper. I already feel crappy, thought I had a UTI and have taken d-mannose for 5 days as of today. Is the amount of cholestyramine affecting this?? That was my thinking anyway because I am basically taking double the amount that I had been.
Thoughts??

Here are my thoughts:
Cholestyramine will sequester most medications or supplements if you take them within 4 hours after taking the cholestyramine. If you take them before taking the cholestyramine the label says to take them at least 2 hours before. But that really depends on how long it takes to absorb whatever you are taking, and that can vary. And while the label is about major effects, if you're taking a significant dose of cholestyramine, it probably affects virtually everything that goes through the digestive tract to some degree no matter when you take them. Still, if you follow the directions, the effect should be minor.
Here's a reference on how to take D-mannose:

I don't get too excited about floating poop, It can be caused be many things. It's usually caused by diet changes.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

don't be too worried about poop changes day to day, week to week. For quite a few of us, there is no 'perfect poop - everyday'.
so long as there is less urgency, and the poop has some formation then this is good progress on where things were at a few weeks ago.
remember... progress not perfection.
