Lab report

Post by mjgarr »

I just received my Enterolab report results. I am at 13 for gluten, cow's milk 5, chicken egg 6, soy 6. I am 1+ corn & chicken, 2+ oat. My question is, should I eliminate all of the mentioned items above? I know I have to be gluten free. What about the others?

Thanks mjgarr

Everyone who has inflammation of the gut becomes lactose intolerant because they lose the ability to produce adequate amounts of the lactase enzyme while they are inflamed. So you are lactose intolerant while your gut is inflamed. Otherwise dairy products are OK (after you recover). You can probably tolerate hard cheeses now (and lactose-free milk), because they contain very little lactose. Eggs are safe, soy is safe. You need to avoid all forms of gluten and oats. What was your overall score on the other 11 antigenic foods? That determines whether you need to avoid corn and chicken.

These scores are so low it makes me wonder if you might possibly have selective IgA deficiency, which could make some of the negative results, false negatives. Did your Dr. test your blood to rule out selective IgA deficiency?

my thoughts are the same as tex - selective IGA deficiency could be skewing the results.

My overall score

Post by mjgarr »

My overall score is 9. I have not had any blood tests. I only went through Enterolab.

Well, with an overall score of 9, then you don't need to worry about avoiding corn and chicken. You probably do need to avoid the oats, though, because most people who are sensitive to gluten are also sensitive to the avenin in oats.

Even if you should have selective IgA deficiency though, these positive test results are valid. It's just that some of the other results could be false negative results if you are IgA deficient.
