Do Asacol HD side effects subside as body adjusts

After a few days of being back on Asacol HD I am getting toothpaste-like stools or piles with a day or two in between with no bm. Side effect? I went back on because I was having watery D once a month, but either constipated (new for me) or normans the rest of the month. I'm taking 3-800mg once a day. Should I stop or lower my dose? Thanks for any help

I stopped taking Asacol. It gave me D. I haven't taken it since. That was over 10 years ago.

I follow a gluten free diet. My only intolerance is gluten. I can eat dairy, eggs, soy with no problems. I can get a flare if I unknowingly ingest gluten. Also it seems stress is a factor the older I get. I was fortunate to be diagnosed with MC a few months after the D started. I think that is why my symptoms resolved so quickly when I started a GF diet. I was diagnosed in 2003 via colonoscopy.

Asacol also made my hair thin.
