Success story, update, and a question

Post by Beachbum »

Thanks to all of you who helped me get over the main problems I had with collagenous colitis. At my low point I had become allergic to most of the trigger foods. For awhile I tried eliminating the triggers. I lost 33 pounds and remained intolerant of most foods. I got so I couldn't take Imodium. I had b-vitamin deficiencies, rising blood lead levels due to bone loss and resulting release of stored lead, and the brain fog was getting worse. After a week at the beach last summer where I tried to eat a few "normal" foods, I had to stop to poop 7 times during the 5-hour drive home. I weighed 153 pounds (down from 187) and people were starting to look at me like something was very wrong. My wife the vet basically told me to do something before I starved to death.

I went to a specialist and got prescriptions for Budesonide and Bentyl. Although I thought they were not effective, the GI doc told me she thought I was over the MC and was experiencing only symptoms of IBS which I have had for years. Bottom line: I can now eat most foods, including dairy, eggs and glutin in moderation! I weigh 185 and feel pretty good!

My question is this. Is there a safe antibiotic I can take for bronchitis without another 9-month bout of MC?

During my recovery I took lots of vitamins, supplements, magnesium, probiotics digestive enzymes, cider vinegar etc recommended by this forum. I am convinced if I had taken only prescription meds I would probably would still be sick. Thanks!

Great news on your improvements, (and pleased to hear that our suggestions helped!)

naturally- good options for bronchitis is high high dose of Vit D3 for three days
For the treatment of respiratory infections, 2,000 IU per kilogram of body weight has been taken by mouth daily for three days.

using search function I found this reply by Tex to a previous question like this
Many members have been able to use azithromycin (Z-Pak) without provoking an MC flare
and this post in the Information on Medications Section

hope this helps and hope good long term wellness continues
