daily routines

Post by Gabes-Apg »

one of the key elements of my MC management plan was 'routine' the only hiccup to this is that when you are away from home or circumstances beyond your control interrupt the routine then things can become more challenging

I listened to this podcast today and found it really helpful.
having routines is good, but also having activities /rituals
that are not dependant on routine per say -
ie things like meditation that can be done anywhere anytime are a good resource.

with members that are embracing travel in the future and other aspects in their lives this podcast may be useful - the aim is to be not to be reliant on a 'fixed' routine, so that you can be in optimised state regardless of where you are or how the day has started etc.

I couldn't post a direct link to the podcast
it is podcast 123 daily rituals with jaret grossman (about a third of the way down the page)
http://www.tonywrighton.com/zestology/

within the podcast they also had a good discussion about eating plans/dieting and the importance of the mental and emotional aspects of embracing what you are doing with the right intent, ie enjoying what you are doing!

Thank-you Gabes for passing on the link, I found it quite interesting, having a routine is great but like you said when you can't do that routine the same as when you are at home, it is so important to embrace what you can't control and control what you can.
I find when I am away from home and for instance find myself at a restaurant out with friends or my hubby ,who can eat anything on the menu, or so they think, I am still working on my hubby to embrace eating less processed foods but learning when someone is ready to hear what you say they will listen but you can't make them listen. However, in my own personal experience it is amazing what it feels like when I let go of the things I can't control and embrace what I can, the choice to eat there and explain what I can have from the menu and if they can make it happen to switch it up a bit so I can relax and know I am doing the best I can for my body in that moment. Sure, with life it is always about choices everyday and what impact they have on me. I will keep calm and hope for the best with the knowledge I have gained from everyone's experiences and my own. I prefer to not get sick or upset stomach later from something I ate so I am so careful to follow my body's needs , however sometimes that is out of my control.. shame on me if I do this on purpose but if it happens by accident then I forgive myself for poor judgement and remember what I learnt from that situation for the next time , in other words, remember to tell the next restaurant I find myself eating at another way to prepare the food, anyway, that is kinda what I got out of podcast, I might be totally wrong.. have a great day and thank-you for reading my little rant.. :pigtail:

it is not a rant - just a healthy vent, of the challenges us MC'ers face!!

thanks for sharing. I know that when I relisten to a podcast weeks or months later, it can bring up different thoughts / connections / aspects for me, depending on what has been happening in my life at the time.

glad you enjoyed it - have a great weekend

take care

thanks
another milestone of my improved wellness, I navigated my self through Australia's biggest / busiest city today!!
saw a friend that I have not seen for over 10 years, (we have known each other for 24 years)
it is always a bit nervy seeing people that haven't seen me since MC and the other health issues came into my life.

must of been ok as they invited me back and were keen to learn how they can prepare a gabe safe meal!
so I feel like I have an invisible crown on, as I feel like a princess tonight...

Wow! quite an exciting day for you yesterday, and at the end of the night feeling like a princess that is awesome, I know we teach people how to treat us, and respecting ourselves and protecting ourselves first is the most important thing to do to let our light shine for others and be that prince or princess, we are inside. I am just smiling thinking about how nervous you were and then to be embraced and accepted by your old friends for the new you. dance like nobody is watching. Love your story.. thanks for sharing your special day Gabes. As they say You go girl... let your light on that crown sparkle.....

P.s. I'm gonna listen to this podcast sometime when I get a minute! Anxiety has been rearing its ugly lately for some reason

my princess crown is still sparkling, being able to drive around the biggest and busiest city in Australia was a major milestone for me.
one advantage of eating a high protein eating plan, it was easy to safely eat breakfast from the buffet, eggs and bacon.

vanessa, I hope you get something out of the podcast!
