I just used the regular casein test at EnteroLab. But I was eating dairy products at the time. Those antibodies affect the whole body. Osteoarthritis seems to respond very slowly. When I started eating dairy products it took several months for the osteo to show up in several finger joints. And when I stopped eating casein, it took a month or so before I began to notice that my finger joints were no longer inflamed.

Cross-contamination of the diet with traces of gluten could also cause the problem. It doesn't take much to cause arthritis symptoms.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks Gabes, good info. I eat grass fed lamb and just bought grass fed whey last week. The article didn't address the underweight person in terms of how much protein which would have been helpful for me.

I thought this info would be of benefit to you
How to build muscle: 0.8g protein/lb bodyweight
If you work out regularly, opt for about 0.8 grams of protein per pound bodyweight. Rebuilding torn up muscles takes a lot of amino acids. You want to provide your body with plenty of raw material to grow.

The other great source of collagen is home made bone broth - use bones from your safe protein sources.
you don't have to drink it, just cook with it, make soups and stews with your safe proteins vegetables.
the latest article from the microscopic colitis foundation has basics on making bone broth.

Bone broth is rich in minerals to strengthen the immune system and support healthy digestion. Bone broth also contains collagen to strengthen tendons, joints, ligaments, bone, and skin. The collagen in bone broth will help heal the lining of the gut to relieve heartburn, GERD, and other types of intestinal inflammation.

in my opinion, given you have been dealing with an IBD for more than 6 years that is the equivalent of a major injury!

he is my Hero Erica...
Listen to his podcasts all the time - some of them I have played multiple times. the current one about hormones, gut health, mitochondria, impact of toxins etc is fabbo (listened to it this morning)

I play them when I am cooking, doing chores, eating, getting ready for work etc.
he has done some mega research in how to optimise health in current day living.
