great way to proceed - we cant alienate or upset the doctors, as there are times we do need them, just apply a bit of discernment about what you share /don't share with them.
to an extent it is not the doctors fault, it is the health system that pays them that is at fault, and this is a global issue, not just America/Canada. ongoing education is limited and mostly provided by Big Pharma.

Just thought I would update you guys. Both appointments with my GP and GI went well, the GI clarified herself and she meant it is an IBD , but it is not related to other IBDs that we suspected (UC, which my brother has) she believes the bleeding could have come from the sigmoid colon and that
While bleeding is uncommon with MC, it can happen. She's going to be testing me for celiac and has prescribed me with the pepto protocol for 2 weeks, if it is unsuccessful I will start entocort.
I think regardless of the celiac testing I am going to take your guys suggestions and modify my diet to rid gluten, etc. And I'm going to try hard to avoid steroids.
Thank you all, I'm glad I found this community

Hi....
That bleeding got me to thinking and I'm surprised you don't have pain with that, thankfully you don't but....you must be on the brink of a potential Diverticulitis which my mom had surgery for 2 years ago and they took 13 inches of the Sigmoid because it had finally seeped intestinal drops into the body cavity! She could have been bleeding, but she never mentioned it to me...she is 70 and doesn't talk much about her Bathroom trips.
My mom now thinks my MC symptoms are in a direct relation to hers and because she ignored hers it led to a more disruptive intestinal consequence and she is glad I have changed my diet and am on a road to a healing what ever that is.
Sooo glad you found this information, and you know what you got going on as it could have led to something much more intricate had you not investigated right now.
You will be able to get some healing going on and bypass any surgery that may have had to take place eventually, I'm so sure of it!
My mom has not embraced the gluten and dairy free protocol....and says after her surgery she has felt better than she ever has, I'm a bit concerned about this thought process and hope she doesn't have more issues as she ages, I'm glad she is able to enjoy life once again though.

Hi Erica,
Oh I certainly have pain. I have ALOT of pain it may be my worst symptom, mostly on the left (where my sigmoid would be) but I also get a lot of pain in the splenic flexure area and around my appendix/cecum area. No evidence of diverticulitis on the scope !
My doctor wanted to start me on Entocort but I'm opting to try the pepto protocol in combination with Cholestyramine, then if that doesn't work.. Entocort. I should have asked about meslamine before heading the steroid route but I didn't want to shove anything in her face and just decided to take her advice.
Hope your mom is doing ok!

She is doing quite well! That is the part that concerns me...so I will just keep my eye on her as the years go by. I'm not sure they saw much other than some light coloring that was allowing her to have such leaky gut, so be careful your's doesn't turn in to more as time goes by.Oh I certainly have pain. I had lots of pain 2 years ago before I found this great forum group! It didn't take long after changing the diet and getting VitD3 and Magnesium levels going that the pain left rather fast if I recall. Just removing the offending foods helped enormously, and then my body kinda started down its own path of detox from the numerous years of gluten and soy...in fact recently my face got a flare from getting into too much reactive protein...incredible as it sounds. It's finally calming down after about 6-8 weeks now, but I can tell when I have gotten into something offending, the reaction comes out where ever it decides to on me unfortunately it was my face this time, I've had this happen a few years ago and my Dr at the time said it was a fungus LOL
