Scroll down and you will see that budesonide is taken once a day in the morning at the same time every day.

My prescription said on the label to take it once a day in the morning. When I started I took all 3 capsules in the morning at roughly the same time every day.

Brandy
Thank you Brandy for the information and the link. :) I have never taken magnesium by itself due to fear of diarrhea. In the past I did take a calcium/magnesium capsule which I tolerated during a non-flare period.

and sympathies that your flare has been ongoing and your bland diet is not working for you this time

to expand on Brandy's reply about magnesium, and the issues you are having regarding sleep /anxiety etc. what we have learnt in the past couple of years is the importance of magnesium.
one key important aspect is that we need good levels of magnesium for Vit D3 to be used properly in the body
there are numerous other important reasons for Magnesium and many here have seen vast improvement once they have a good magnesium intake (there are a few good posts in the success stories area)

a good starting point is having epsom salt foot soaks /baths, especially in the afternoon or evening as this will relax the body ready for sleep. using topical magnesium oil is a safe way to get good magnesium without any risk to upsetting the digestion.

hope this helps
I don't know how to reply to an individual without using the quote button which copies everything. I see that there is a reply button on the top but it seems to be a general reply rather than to the person.

I have Epson salts and will add that to my bedtime bath. Thank you! Where does one buy topical magnesium oil and what part of the body do you put it on and how often? When I had my annual GYN appointment two months ago when I was stable and happy, she prescribed blood tests for me: CBC, comprehensive metabolic profile 20, B12, folate. Dx: increased LFTs and high homocysteine. The latter is from a heart study test that I volunteered for in March due to my high cholesterol which is related to my MC diet and not hereditary. My GYN is my most trusted Dr. said she spends a lot of time with me each year during my annual. She doesn't take insurance so I pay out-of-pocket for the personalized care.

I am laughing at the nickname Peas because I'm doing a lot of that. Thank you for the welcome! I definitely need the moral support!

I prefer my nickname...

D3 looks good at 50 ng/mL. Take budesonide after breakfast. If you want to cure your sleep issues, get up at a regular time, whether you're slept out or not. Your body will gradually learn that being in bed means it's time to sleep.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

topical magnesium - amazon, iHerb and many retailers sell it. ancient minerals lotion

depending on your daily routine, applying it as often as you can - on legs, arms, shoulders, stomach.
if it goes a bit chalky, wait 20 minutes and then you can wash it off.

I am pleased you have a trusted doctor in your GYN, sadly most doctors/specialists do not acknowledge the importance of minerals /vitamins etc. in the main message board area of the forum there are LOTS of discussions about magnesium.
things might be 'in range' for your test results, but it may not be the optimal level that you need when there is chronic inflammation.

I normally do not have difficulty falling asleep and stay asleep. It's due to the severe flyer that has provoked anxiety and insomnia which has had me laying in bed for hours. In the beginning of the flare I did not have trouble sleeping. It's just because it has dragged on for so long and it's very unfamiliar and scary for me that anxiety has kicked in. Being so weak from not eating I will sleep whenever I can. That is good advice for normal times but I can't do that right now. I'm barely getting through the day sometimes at home. Once I stabilize and am eating enough I know the anxiety will disappear. It's difficult dealing with this when you live by yourself and don't have much support in person or on the phone from family. I will get through this and look forward to posting positive and encouraging news to others. I have to keep telling myself that! Thank you very much.

Peas
some articles about magnesium that you may find interesting;

A marginal deficiency can easily be transformed into a more significant problem when stressful events trigger additional magnesium loss. In the extreme situations stressful events trigger sudden drops of serum magnesium leading to cardiac arrest. Even a mild deficiency of magnesium can cause increased sensitivity to noise, nervousness, irritability, mental depression, confusion, twitching, trembling, apprehension, and insomnia
http://www.greenmedinfo.com/blog/how-st ... are-linked

As usual with natural cures, research into magnesium is slim. But early studies do indicate that magnesium may be effective at treating anxiety. A study in France of 264 patients with generalized anxiety disorder found that a statistically significant number of men and women reported improvements on a magnesium regimen.
Another study found that magnesium may have a positive effect on depression as well. Both depression and anxiety are often linked, because both result in fatigue and disaster thinking.
Magnesium is unlikely to cure anxiety in everyone. Instead, the most likely reason that magnesium is so effective is because many people are experiencing the more pronounced anxiety symptoms as a result of their magnesium deficiency. By taking magnesium supplements, these individuals are no longer deficient, and any effects magnesium may have had on their health become less problematic.
Also, there is a significant connection between how the body feels and how the mind feels. When you take magnesium while you're not getting enough, your body is likely to feel better because every component of the 300+ processes is running correctly. That, in turn, will make your entire body feel healthier and more relaxed, which will improve your battle with anxiety.

I'm on my second programme of Budesonide in the past year. My instructions that came in the box say that they should be taken between 30 mins to one hour before a meal. Must say that I always remember the one before breakfast but often only remember the others when I've already started eating.

My doctor said it didn't matter whether or not you eat food with it or not. I sure wish docs would be consistent. Since I'm not sleeping well, I try to rest for an hour and a half after I take them at 9 AM. The morning hours are the only hours that I don't have burning or pain. Since this flare I'm sleeping in segments rather than all at once. I'm having to go P more often than usual (at night too). Is it a diuretic?

So my G.I. doctor yesterday and he's keeping me on 9 mg and keeping me at 150 mg Zantac instead of the 300 mg because of the diarrhea. He doesn't want to give me anything else for the reflux and gastritis because of my mild constipation with occasional diarrhea or IBS ( I would have diarrhea more often if I didn't avoid eating soft vegetables). Doctors just don't get why you can't eat much when you're going through this. The answer, horrible symptoms so you eat as much as you can! Thank God the constipation got relieved today but got a bad bout of nausea afterwards for 2 hrs. At the moment I'm just dealing with bad burning in my sore red throat and burning in my stomach.

I got him to write a script for magnesium RBC which he had never heard of and I had to insist that his assistant look it up. It was in the computer but she found it in the quest diagnostics book. I also have a script from another doctor I saw a few months ago for a regular check up and I asked her to add vitamin D, B6 and B 12 recently. Not looking forward to getting my blood drawn the way I'm feeling. Good to know though.

Janden,

You don't take all 9 mg at the same time? The recommended dosage is to take them all at once early in the morning.
