FREE Microbiome Testing (limited time)

Post by JLH »

Ubiome

We’re excited to announce that SmartGut™, the world’s first sequencing-based clinical microbiome test, is now available in all 50 US states* starting today.

Request your clinical collection kit today - it’s quick and easy.

Request your kit

All you have to do login (or create a new account), click "Request a test," and answer a few questions about your current health status. From there, we will work with a physician in our care coordination network to review your test request. If ordered, we will send a SmartGut Collection Kit directly to you.

Your results are processed in our CLIA-licensed, CAP-accredited lab and sent to both you and your physician.

For a limited time, as part of the SmartGut pilot program, uBiome will bill your insurance company for your tests, but any costs not covered by your insurance company will be covered by uBiome. This means NO balance bill will be issued to you, the patient.

Many conditions are associated with imbalances in the composition of the gut microbiome. Patients with the following conditions may benefit from clinical gut microbiome analysis:

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)

Metabolic Disorder

Patients interested in optimizing gut health

We excited to offer this test to you during our pilot period. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help!

Yours in bacteria,

The uBiome Team

* Patients in New York must confirm their sample is physically collected outside of New York State.

SmartGut™ is a clinical laboratory test ordered by healthcare providers for patients with chronic gut conditions. It detects 26 bacterial targets at a high level of accuracy to better understand: 1) if there are specific pathogens present that might be causing illness, 2) the balance of commensal and beneficial bacteria that may be contributing to your symptoms, and 3) risk factors relating to the microbiome.

I registered two days ago and got my kit in the mail today. Being a nurse in a teaching hospital and understanding the importance of research I'm more than happy to take part in a study that could help with understanding IBD.

The registration required insurance information and didn't indicate anywhere that it was at no cost. Is the free testing period over?

But if it's free why would they ask for your insurance information? I'm sure my insurance wouldn't normally cover this type of testing and I don't want to have a surprise bill. I sent an email to their customer service but didn't get a reply.

They say that if your insurance won't pay it it's free. I haven't heard of anyone yet whose insurance paid it.

free test?

Does the free test test for the same things as the Enterolab in Texas?

The Ubiome web site can be tricky, I'm sorry to say. It would not take the name of my doctor or let me click on the right number for my vial. I just included a note with the sample. Hoping for the best.

Robin, there are totally different tests. UBiome helps identifies the bacteria in your gut. Enterolab tests your food sensitivities.

Robin,

No, this test is apparently a test for the presence of certain gut bacteria. (Probably a DNA-based test). The gut microbiome may or may not have a bearing in MC, that remains to be seen. No effect has actually been proven so far. This is completely different from the EnteroLab tests. Enterolab tests for IgA antibodies to certain foods, information that is vitally important for treating MC.

Oops! Sorry. I see that deb has already answered your question. I type so slowly that my responses are often too late. LOL.
