Rosie (and others),

A PHP forum is not as simple as a regular HTML website. You can't as easily move objects around wherever you want, because the PHP code gets in the way. For example, the top of this forum is a set of tables within tables, with PHP commands thrown in here and there to complicate things. The PP icon, the marquee and the book are 3 cells in a table which is nested within another table. I think it was originally a one-cell table before I started tinkering with it. To add spaces would require either making it a 5-cell table, or adding borders to some of the cells. Anything you add slows down loading time and detracts from the original simplicity/(elegance?).

Personally, I think we should leave it the way it was originally — it was OK for over 13 years. Very few forums last longer than 4 years. Call me an old fogey, but my opinion of change just for the sake of change is rather low. Too many companies try to do that with perfectly good products and end up eventuality destroying their marketability.

And from a logical perspective, trying to disguise a microscopic colitis support forum to look like something else (other than what it actually is), seems kind of ludicrous. What are we going to disguise it to look like? Everyone will have a different opinion. What could we use for a disguise that most bosses wouldn't naturally resent anyway? And what about our identity? If we're not The Potty People, who on earth are we? . . . the microscopic colitis people? That doesn't sound as memorable.

Just some random thoughts.

my 2 cents - keep the old logo

for those viewing it at work change the size the internet browser on your screen and use the scroll bar to right so the logo is always out of sight
OR do not use the website at work if it is that much of concern. It is very viewable/useable via a multitude of devices

That would be a possible logo for the MCF, but this isn't the MCF. Should it be?

Also, that makes it appear as if the MCF is an obstacle that we have to get over.

OK, you're the one who does all the work on the website and you always contribute invaluable information and feedback to so many so you should absolutely leave it the way it was if that's your feeling. Having it open in the office isn't a HUGE problem for me, I was merely suggesting a "facelift" of the site because I tend to like sites that update and refresh their layout from time to time. Personal preference.

I've never thought of myself or referred to myself as a "Potty Person" but I guess it does have a certain ring to it. :weirdnana: I wouldn't personally wear the logo on a t-shirt but I imagine it is a great conversation starter if you do! I would rather think of myself as a warrior or survivor, but in reality, I guess every living thing is a "Potty Person".

I just threw that logo together as an example... it could say whatever you want it to say in the middle or at the bottom or there are hundreds of other icons we could use but you're right, if it ain't broken, don't fix it. Thanks for at least considering it - sorry to have stirred the pot.

Sue,

I hear you and appreciate what you are saying. It just doesn't look right to my eye with the changes. It's kind of like losing an old familiar friend — like losing a reminder of the time when I crawled out of a bottomless pit to get back in the sunshine. To me, it represents the concept of learning how to control MC, and leaving that old lifestyle (in the bathroom) behind. YMMV.

FWIW, the T-shirts were fairly popular at one time when many of the original members still posted.

For me, the little icon is also a reminder that our disease is not something to be embarrassed about, as we didn't choose it. Many of us struggle with this while around others, and try our best to "hide" our discomfort. Having this "Potty People family" to vent with decreases the stress of dealing with the MC reality. There is nothing here that is "off limits" when it comes to venting and discussing. This in and of itself is very healing.

Love,
Kari

P.S. Your "random thoughts" made a lot of sense to me Tex.

Hi Kari,

You're right of course. I remember feeling all alone in the world when I accidentally stumbled across Sally's old board many years ago and was amazed to see that they were discussing the very things that are usually not discussed. My first thought was, "Hey, these people are just like me".

Love,

Vanessa,

Might be an inventory problem. The only remaining inventory (according to my records) is large, medium, and small in the small logo option. If you can use one of those, let me know and I'll see that you get it.

Hi All-
I'm late to the party but I do like "you can get your life back" on the main page. That is the ultimate goal and everyone who finds us will undoubtedly be as distressed as we all were when our MC hit. That phrase alone shows we get it- we know what it's like to lose that quality of life and we will support others while they work toward that goal. I just referred someone here last week and I want them to feel that level of support that I have enjoyed here. I'm glad "you can get your life back" is staying.

Warm regards-
Carol
