I was diagnosed with LC about 5 years ago. Since, I have had bouts of diarrhea on and off... and then in February, I was diagnosed with CC. Is there a reason I had one, and then developed a different type of MC? They did feel slightly different, although a lot of the symptoms were the same. Just didn't have the high white blood cell counts this time.

As far as I know, no one knows why, but the disease can segue back and fourth between the two common forms at random. It's sort of irrelevant, because as you have noted, the clinical symptoms are pretty much the same, and the treatment is certainly the same. Logic says that something probably causes it to make those changes, but no one has figured out what it is.
At least a dozen different forms of MC have been documented in the literature, but the only significant differences are found in the histology (diagnostic characteristics), and these days, we never hear about any of those alternate forms — only LC and CC.
