Sometimes it's the little things
I have jumped on the GF wagon and continue to struggle with the loss of so many of my favorite foods. I was mentioning to my husband that at least my favorite candy, Haribo Gold-Bears, are a safe treat (yes, I know sugar is inflammatory but I won't deny myself an occassional treat). Well, I was wrong! The labeling has just changed on them and it lists glucose from wheat or corn as an ingredient I am beyond devastated...they are without a doubt my favorite treat in the world!!! Like I said, it's the little things

I hear ya. Sometimes I just wish so much that I had made that favorite lemon bread recipe just one more time before the you know what hit the fan. From this board, I did hear about some chocolate chips from a company called Enjoy Life. I'm still eating a Stage 1 diet that is basically rice/protein three meals per day with a few bananas as snacks. I tried some of the chocolate chips the other day though without any problems and I have to say that they were absolutely delicious. If you like chocolate, you might want to give them a try. They're not your very favorite treat and I honestly can say that I feel your pain...

the first 6-9 months is the hardest as you transition through grieving lost favourite foods/drinks and focus on healing.
with time and healing, you will find new favourites and the loss of the Haribo gold bears will not a be upsetting memory.
hang in there - the sacrifices and changes are SOOO worth it!!!

So true Gabes! Once you have been away from it for an extended period of time the cravings go away and you really can't even remember what those things tasted like. Your taste buds will go through a major change which is a good thing.
After a couple of years I was having dreams of my favorite foods, but it would be a nightmare! I took a bite of something without realizing it and spend the rest of the dream spitting it out and worrying about the consequences.

I completely understand Paula,
I wish Red Vines were gluten free too! My favorite
I am learning to find new favorites....it's been hard, but I feel so much better these days....I hit bumps every now an then....but the symptoms don't last as long as they used to, thankfully.
