Well................
It would be 3 weeks tomorrow night that flash flooding hit here. I just got my house phone and internet back this afternoon. Due to backwash in the creek that goes though my driveway I got SO MUCH MUD in my garage, in my driveway and in my basement. No real damage to the house but the cleanup is a nightmare. And, of course I lost my bridge again.
I haven't participated much here since my return but I did sign in once or twice a day. I still have a long way to go as far as cleanup goes and I will be trying to rid myself of anything I don't need or really want because I plan to move as soon as I get a chance. I want to move to the North Georgia mountains in the area where my sister & her husband are building a house. I've had it. I surrender. I have stuck it out 9 years here since Bill died but I just can't do it anymore. I'm 74 and I'm ready to throw in the towel.
I feel this is the right decision and I'm really looking forward to beginning a new chapter in my life.

Oh my! You are a trooper to stay there so long and deal with repeated flooding! I think you are spot on to get out and be close to family! Throw in that towel and smile all the way to Georgia!

Oh my gosh!! My sister & husband are building a house in an area called Mineral Bluff (I think is the name) and it's nearest small town is Blue Ridge, Ga. It's near the Tenn. line. What a coincidence!! I'm truly praying I can make it there and the sooner the better!!

Hi Shirley,
I'm sorry to hear that you had all the damage from the flash flooding. I feel for you and I understand what you're saying — it just isn't as much fun to have to go through that as we get older. If you feel that it's time to try living in a different area of the country, it probably is.
Best of luck to you in your new adventures.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Thanks, Tex, and I agree with you. It's time for a change. Probably past time.
Deb, that would be great. I hope we get to that. I've only actually met one person from the forum and I don't think she is on anymore but It was delightful. She was living in Alaska at the time. I'm sure Tex remembers her.

She still logs on occasionally, just not very often. I believe you're referring to someone who lives in Fergus Falls, Minnesota now.

Shirley...
change is hard, from someone who has done two major moves since being diagnosed with MC, it takes time to settle into new environment, new doctors, new dentist, new shopping routine, new friends.
Each time it took me about 18 months to start to settle, and around the 27 months mark, feel at home, and not questioning/doubting the change....
be prepared for feeling 'out of synch' for a this type of time line, but know that with the change comes lots of unexpected benefits that you wont expect!
lots of hugs and spare energy as you embrace this change
XO

Tex, yes - that's who I was talking about.
Gabes - It's been a long time since I've moved but I remember that it is quite unsettling, especially trying to get oriented to new doctor's, etc. Thanks for the advice - It's good advice.

Dear Shirley,
Sometimes something bad has to happen to make room for a positive change. Wishing you all the best with your relocation. Please keep us updated on how you do.

I agree with you. I'm looking forward to the next chapter in my life. I am quite at peace with my decision and am hopeful that the right person will come along and want my property. I cannot move without selling so it all hinges on that.
