my breakfast options are
home made stew (made via home made bone broth, safe proteins and 2-3 of my safe veges all well cooked) OR
left over safe veges reheated with safe proteins (eggs, meat, bacon and avocado)
having good serves of protein and safe veges as breakfast gives me good energies for the day. I make the stew in big batches on the weekends, and freeze in portion sizes, so it doesnt take long to reheat each morning.
for the hot aussie summers, having the warm breakfast also settles well, that i am not having hot meals later in the day.

I have a slight mystery.....
Was it Gluten or Soy that caused a welt on the bottom of my a$$??
Went out for a meal Friday evening - had a basic fresh ground beef burger patty grilled (they used a canola pan spray which had the soy lecithin emulsifier).
I had french fries (they use canola fry oil - no blend). Yes I probably should have asked for a baked potato in hindsight.
I had a small raspberry Mojito (made with white rum)
I brought my own safe dipping sauce.
I called the restaurant and went thru everything I ate and it comes down to the pan spray or the french fries....QUESTION what built up in my system to give me a reaction almost 12 hours later on the bottom of my Bum that gave a welt 2 inches in size and an incredible itchy bottom of my heel on my foot (right side for both of these issues). It took a whole day for it to dissipate and I had to take Benedryl Saturday and Sunday nights.
I suspect Soy....but I don't know

Erica,
I suspect that's a histamine reaction. I get them often. Look at things such as the white rum. The sauce might have/probably contributed, or it might have been a series of events that led up to the point where the rum or something else finally exceeded your histamine limit and set off the reaction.
Histamine reactions are usually the result of a discreet high-histamine exposure or the culmination of a series of smaller-exposure events — possibly over multiple days. I've had a lot of welts or weals in my day, but I don't believe I've ever had one in that location. Usually they are on my torso or my lower legs, including the ankle, but rarely a foot. And they are smaller, sometimes in multiples. That one sounds like a real jewel.
But of course I could be wrong — it might have been due to gluten or soy.

I agree with Tex.............I get them from time to time and it's usually too much histamine or an allergic reaction to something...............I can't say that I've ever had one there, however! I've had them about everywhere else though!

Tex and Jari....
I'm pretty sure you are both 100% correct.....after weighing what I had the last time this occurred (smoked brine turkey a year ago) both times were due to EXCESS Histamine....Drats!!!
I'm going to be one of 'those' Mc'ers that can't have alcohol now, and I have to watch it when I treat myself to a small helping of Cashew Ice cream because nuts are a high histamine....
AND.....due to my indulgence with perhaps a bit more sugar plus histamine here an there I suspect that is what has pronounced the welt rash on my upper lip next to my nose.
Drats, Drats.....Drats!!!!
Trying to eat healthy 24/7 is a pipedream I'm going to try...it's hard seeing myself being perfect at this....Good grief!
Thank you for pointing this out....yet again to me....I love your patience with me

Oh Erica,
I have had similar experiences...no welts, but potty troubles! And you just wanted to enjoy a nice evening out, and boom! I wondered if the fries were cooked separately in designated fryer, or may have been exposed to gluten from other frying....but discouraging, for sure!
Gabes,
What is PSP? I've seen it referenced several times, how does it minimize histamine issues?

Erica,
You're not alone in this adventure either. After reading yours and immediately realizing what it probably was, I began to figure out why I'm having a little trouble also. I've been indulging in the fresh Palisade Colorado peaches. I haven't had any potty troubles with it, but over the last couple of days, I have been kind of itchy (ear, arms, legs, etc.) and I was trying to figure it out when it hit me................histamine. So, I need to back off of those and let it clear up. If it's not one thing, it's 25 others.............glad we can help each other figure these issues out!

To add to Gabes' post: Diamine oxidase (DAO) is used by the body to purge unused histamine as it accumulates in the bloodstream over time. The active form of vitamin B-6 is pyridoxal 5′ phosphate (usually referred to as simply P5P). If we have insufficient activated DAO, we may have histamine problems simply because we can't get rid of excess (unneeded) histamines. Ergo, if we have insufficient P5P, we may have histamine issues for the same reason.Sunny wrote:What is PSP? I've seen it referenced several times, how does it minimize histamine issues?

Thanks Gabes!
Well....I got another welt, its on my left shoulder last night....I have resorted to Allegra 180mg for a few days and I'm also upping the B6 P5P....
This is crazy! I've never had my histamine raised so high before. I've been itchy behind the ears and neck for the last 4 days and now I'm afraid to eat!! UGH
Tex, my DAO must really be shot right now....is there anything else besides foods that raise histamine? Like heat, stress, insufficient sleep etc....

Jari,
I'm so sorry to hear you are having histamine issues too....they are the pits!
I feel tight in certain areas of the body, its uncomfortable....an yes I'm glad we have each other to bounce things off of...really does help.
Hi Sunny,
Ya....I probably should have just had a baked potato....wont do that again at least not at that restaurant. I did eat at Red Robin by the Columbia Center Mall in Kennewick - in case you want to try there, and they have a dedicated fryer and allergy station! You get a special menu to pick off of and my meal there was really great ;-) My bathroom trips aren't horrible, but I'm not having Normans very successfully at the moment I'm sure once I get this histamine under control again I'll be good once again.
