Here in Central Texas (probably roughly 125–150 miles away from the storm center), we're just having steady light rain and moderate winds. We've only had a little over 4 inches of rain so far and 20–30 mph winds. But 50 miles closer, they've had 20-something inches in some places and very high winds. It appears to be heading toward Houston now (paralleling us), but I don't offhand know how high the remaining wind velocity might be. I haven't checked lately. But we'll soon be on the dry side if it continues heading east.
Thanks for thinking of those in it's path.

I got an email from someone this morning (not a member — he doesn't have MC) who lives in Houston, who said that they've already had over 30 inches of rain in his part of the city and they are expecting more, but the worst seems to be over. They will probably set some new all-time records.

I hope the rain stops down there pretty soon, it seems to have stopped here this morning. The sun even peeked out for a few minutes. You know, speaking of engineering, there are so many engineers on this forum that I'll bet you could prove an engineering degree is associated with MC. Hook 'em Horns.

Many prayers for all! The daughter of a friend just moved to Houston to attend Baylor. Needless to say it's been very stressful for her. Her daughter is safe, holed up in her apartment but the pictures of the cars in her building's parking lot covered with water were beyond scary. I work in long term care and the picture of the nursing home residents sitting in water waist high was hard to view.

Ive been concerned for all the families, but especially the children who will most likely be traumatized by losing their homes and seeing mom & dad so stressed....plus all the animals....I've heard the rescue outfits are overwhelmed with dogs and cats who have been found ....
Hoping the rain stops soon...

It's finally moved over to the Beaumont, Lake Charles (Louisiana) area, so that even Houston is finally getting some relief from the rains. They will probably see some sun today and start to dry out (drain).
We're seeing a lot of refugees up here in Central Texas. Enough that a lot of stations are out of gas and a lot of supermarkets are out of things like bread and milk. Most of them seem to be landing at the northern end of the county (Bell county), where it rained very little.
Helicopters and transport planes from Ft. Hood are making frequent trips across here as they fly back and forth to the coast.
