Ideas?

Post by owpain »

Hi All,
I was diagnosed with MC about two years ago and have since been on either Cholestyramine or Budesonide. Was on the C for about a year until too much stomach pain and I decided to go back on B. Now I am having a lot of stomach pain and watery diarrhea again- nowhere near what it was pre-diagnosis but pretty severe. Nothing has changed in terms of diet, etc. Anyway- wondering if you have any ideas what could be going on? Going to GI dr Tuesday. Thanks for your input!

Hi.

Welcome aboard. Meds lose efficacy over time and they don't always work for everyone. Every time a budesonide treatment is ended and started again. it becomes less effective. That's verified by published research.

If you're looking for effective ideas, why not change your diet and put a stop to the inflammation? No inflammation = no symptoms.

Again, welcome aboard and please feel free to ask anything.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Thanks Tex, that is probably what I should do. When I got diagnosed it was not the right time to try to fix my diet, but now things have settled a bit. Still, it makes me sad. I like food lol!

Trust me, we all like food. And there are many ways to prepare the foods that we can still eat so that they are more tasty, if we are a little creative. But no one likes to spend so much of their life in the bathroom. Life's too short to spend any more of it in the bathroom than is absolutely necessary.

You have a choice to make, stay sick or change your diet. It's really that simple. As Tex says, we all like food. We just have to learn to like different food. It's easier than you think once you accept that it's the only way to go and so much better than life spent in a bathroom.
