Hi all,

Is there something that you do immediately when you get symptoms of a flare-up to hopefully get things under control early?

Thanks! Kim

Kim,

Most people switch to a bland recovery diet (such as the one you used to recover in the first place) and hope that it will stop the inflammation, and therefore stop the reaction. If you decide to take budesonide, taking less than a full dose rarely helps. Many patients try that, but it almost never works. The dose has to be full in almost every case (if it's used). Sometimes you are lucky and you recover quickly, and sometimes recovery is almost as tough as it was the first time.

You're very welcome. Good luck.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Switch to ingesting chicken broth or bone broth only for 1-2 days. Work on reducing stress--typically I do a 3-5 minute meditation every two hours and set my cell phone alarm accordingly. Take anti histamine for 2-3 days.

Most times this will kick me out of a flare.

Hi Kim,

Bland recovery diet (like Tex mentions) is the best. I was specifically speaking to if you have a re-flare while you are on the bland recovery diet. Hopefully this makes sense.
