Cashew Butter

Post by Marcia K »

Hello, all. I finally took the plunge and tried cashew butter (I am very hesitant to introduce new foods.) I bought a small packet of Artisana on Vitacost. It was delicious and I didn't have any ill effects from it. I was just wondering what brand of cashew butter you purchase? I believe this is $15.00/jar but it's organic and non-GMO which I will gladly pay more for. Thanks!

This is what I use, and this is currently the cheapest source (at least it is for volume orders).

Marcia, nut butters can be easily made if you have a high-powered blender (like a Vitamix) I've read it's possible with a food processor too but it takes more time.

Are all almond or cashew butters the same if the ingredients are just nuts and oil? I'm wondering if it matters that they are roasted, dry roasted, blanched and roasted, etc?

How it's prepared and processed definitely affects the flavor and palatability. Some are too "oily", some are too dry, some taste "off". I tried many brands before I settled on this one.

Yep! I have an inexpensive Ninja Pulse (more of a food processor), and it works great for cashews, since they're not as hard as almonds, for example.
