MTHFR mutation/issues/testing

Post by HockeyMom »

So, sitting here off work still. I have seen references to the MTHFR mutation here, never thought much of it. What would be the issues I would notice if I had it?? And is getting tested something I should think about?? I'm just trying to cover all my bases here. I have been taking the right B's for like the past 6 months per the recommendations here on this site and yesterday ordered Thorne Methyl Gard in hopes of maybe saving myself some $$$. I think what I read on line was 3 capsules a day of those?? Is that right?? I didn't order the Methyl Gard Plus as I have no idea if I have the MTHFR issues or not.

Thanks!

Laine,

Testing at 23andme and analysis of your raw data by Genetic Genie will tell you which (if any) of those mutations you might have. The Methyl-Guard Plus is approximately twice as potent as the regular Methyl-Guard. I take one a day of the MG Plus because I do have methylation issues.

I'm short of time today and I type slowly since the stroke, so I'll hope that someone will explain what untreated methylation issues might cause in the way of symptoms.

I am taking 1 each of the methyl guard plus per day. I tested negative for MFR. I think I just have absorption issues and the methylated "B"s absorb easier for me.
