Antacid

Post by charliemudcat »

I have been taking ranitidine OTC antacid 150 mg once a day to combat the constant acid reflux I experience, especially on the elimination diet, which I'm about three days into. I noticed that antacids are a no-no with lymphocytic colitis, but I don't know about MC. Any input on taking this while doing the diet?

I also have been reading on this forum about magnesium and vitamin D and will be supplementing soon with those, and trying an antihistamine as well.

I just want to give myself the best chance to heal. Thoughts?

Hi Katie,

LC is a type of MC. Ranitidine is an H2 blocker, a group of meds that are not nearly as likely to cause problems for MC patients as PPIs There's no guarantee that H2 blockers will bother you, they only bother a small percentage of patients. Therefore, if you need them to help control the reflux, you will probably benefit from using them.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
