New! ReMag Lotion

Post by sunny »

Don't know if you have heard, but Carolyn Dean has developed a lotion with 200 mg ReMag Solution per teaspoon.

Might be good for those who cannot take magnesium orally. Priced at $19.95 per bottle.

I noticed that and the reviews are positive. I'll be traveling soon and thinking that I'll order one so I won't have to carry the liquid.

I'm curious if her product absorbs any differently than LifeFlo....because that is the same amount of Magnesium in the LifeFlo that sells for $7.34 at Vitacost.com.

I used the LifeFlo during my first year and feel it worked fine, (it took a while for the shea butter to absorb so going to bed with it was a bit tacky) unless one does not like its vanilla smell then I suppose Dr. Dean's might be nicer as I don't think it has any fragrance. Perhaps Dr Dean's doesn't have any issues with the tackiness...hope someone chimes in on that aspect of it.

Erica-
I used Life Flo for months but couldn't figure out how much per teaspoon or whatever with the lotion. So used it and their oil also. I got tired of the oil wierdness so ordered Mo Maggies Magnesium lotion which is 250/teaspoon, 8 oz bottle is selling for less than the Dr Dean stuff and more potent it seems??
I still have the Life Flo that I put on during the day, but again, have no idea how much per teaspoon with that stuff (unless they have changed the labeling since I bought it..)

I have purchased the oral ReMag a few times and used it up until a few months ago as I just haven't had much luck at getting control of this diarrhea. So, my question is....why pay more for their lotion which is less potent than other brands?? I thought their big draw was that the oral wouldn't give you diarrhea...!!! Am I off here??? Does their form of magnesium also absorb better transdermally?? Just asking!!!

Hey Laine,

I love the lotion and find it got rid of weird bumps I had on my calves and its not sticky like the other mag lotions I've used. Dr. Dean says 1 teaspoon of ReMag lotion has 200 mg of magnesium in it. I actually have to lessen my oral intake on days I use the lotion. The idea is still the same. They are using the nano sized particles that absorb more fully. They just use their ReMag and made a lotion, so it does absorb better than other brands. At least that was my experience with it.

If you have leftover ReMag you aren't using just mix in with your fav lotion and it should be similar. 1/2 teaspoon equals 150 mg.....

P.S.
I will be living on the streets soon  these products are expensive, but sadly for me, nothing else seems to do the job and my health is priceless!

I have not purchased the lotion, but some of the reviews I read echo what Vanessa said....that only a teaspoon is absorbed immediately with no residue or odor. One of the magnesium sprays I bought seems to lay on my skin and is slick feeling so I ended up putting it back in the cupboard and not using it....
One of their selling points was it would help those who just can't stand the taste of the ReMag...I'm in that camp...I can't stand the metallic taste so I mix it with a little Good Earth spicy tea , which works just fine!

I haven't tried the Remag lotion yet. Instead, I'm very pleased with Mo Maggie Magnesium lotion. 250 mg per tsp. No odor, not sticky. $14.95.

Just a note on the ReMag lotion......it is VERY thin. I forgot to mention that in case anyone was thinking of purchasing. It absorbs quickly and leaves no residue, very moisturizing for as thin as it is...

Thinking of Using Topical Magnesium

Post by Pam V »

Hi All -

I'm thinking of maybe either switching over from oral to topical magnesium or perhaps doing a blend (some oral/some topical). Right now I'm taking Kirkman oral mag and am not having any problems. Foot and leg cramping has reduced significantly. I wasn't getting cramping at all but with cooler weather in New England, I had to switch out of my summer sandals and pull out my fall/winter shoes and boots. It seems like any time I make changes with my footwear, even if I'm wearing shoes that don't bother me at all, it seems to bring about some foot cramping (this has happened for a long time - not just since MC).

I've noticed that many of you do very well with the topical - with fall weather here I will need to start moisturizing my skin more so why not use some lotion with Mag in it....

My question is, how do you know how much to reduce the oral mag? And along the lines of reducing meds, I am going to be dropping from one Budesonide daily to every other day (once I buy a weekly pill box so I can keep track of this!) As time goes on, will I be reducing my B's, Vit D, and Magnesium, and if so, how do I know when and how much.

Thank-you all for your input. Without all of you, I would truly literally be SOL.

love,
Pam

Pam,

That depends. How much of the "B" vitamins, Vitamin D, and oral magnesium are you taking?

Hi Tex,

I am taking Methyl Guard Plus (90 mg Riboflavin 5' Phos, 45 mg Vit B6 P5P, 3 mg Folate, 3 mg B12), Kirkman Magnesium Bisglycinate (100 mg as Bisglycinate Chelate, 555 mg from Mag Bisglycinate Chelate), and 1000 IU of Vitamin D - I take all three of these three times/day. I also take a fish oil in the morning and generally use Zyrtec as I have horrible seasonal allergies (People are truly amazed when they hear me have a sneezing spell - I can go on with 15 to 20 sneezes in one session easily:)

Maybe I should just leave well enough alone and keep on with what I'm doing. Probably no need to mess with something that's working well. At some point, should I cut back though - I've been following this regimen since late June along with Budesonide which I'm slowly decreasing.

Thank-you, again!!! You and this forum are truly my guides in this journey -

love,
Pam

Hi Pam,

If it were me, I would stick with The Methyl Guard Plus (or at least the regular version) if I had allergy symptoms (which I do). If you have been taking that amount of magnesium for roughly 5 or 6 months I think you could probably cut back to 300–350 mg (total daily dose). I can't tell if you are taking 1,000 IU of vitamin D daily or 3,000 IU, but I am taking 3,000 IU daily in Central Texas. You probably need slightly more (especially with shorter days coming) in the Boston area. Fish oil and Zyrtec are fine. At least those are my thoughts.

You're very welcome.

Love,

Tex
