Bulletproof coffee?
Hi there.
You've probably heard about or read about bullet-proof coffee. I've been hearing about it for years but only a few days ago considered trying it. I struggle with what to eat for breakfast and this would be the perfect solution, but I read about it giving a lot of people diarrhea. I'm guessing that's mostly from them using too much fat too quickly but it also seems that people who are using MCT (instead of coconut oil) are the ones with stomach issues.
Has anyone here tried it or have any thoughts about it? I may try it tomorrow morning with just a tiny bit of ghee and coconut oil and see if I feel any intestinal distress.

Diagnosed November 2004, Used Asacol and Lialda, sometimes worked, sometimes made it worse. Entocort always works but hate it. Remission only lasts 3-6 months and then back on Entocort. Enterolab test July 2017, now gluten free. Time will tell!

Paint me igner'nt cause I don't hang out on social sites so I've never heard of it. I'm so unsophisticated that I eat bacon and eggs and plain old Folgers Black Silk coffee for breakfast.

Yep
been following dave asprey for 18 months, and my Mc safe eating plan is based on Gabe safe version of his Bulletproof eating plan (including the fasting and ketosis principles)
I start the day with black coffee with coconut oil - as Ghee is too expensive for me here.
I use organic coffee beans freshly ground. the quality of the coffee is just as important as having the right ghee etc.
some coffee is high in chemicals like cadmium etc, so like anything, you get what you pay for, pay extra for better quality coffee
Listen to his podcasts every week - awesome dude with great info on wellness and healing.

Yeah, right... you're the LAST person I would refer to as ignorant, and probably even smarter for not being a social media addict. But Bullet Proof coffee has actually been in the news and in articles for a few years now, don't remember where I first heard about it. You can Google the supposed benefits if interested but it's basically coffee whipped with butter and coconut oil. Mostly used by people who are on a high-fat, low carb diet.

Thanks, Gabe! I KNEW you'd be familiar with it and I'm thrilled to hear that you have had success with some of his theories. I went to a health food store tonight to purchase ghee and coconut oil but the only ghee they had there had coconut oil in it. I bought it and will try a very small amount in my coffee tomorrow morning... not sure yet how my digestive tract will respond to a shot of fat with my coffee. If after a few days I find that I enjoy it and it doesn't cause me problems, I'll the coffee I buy.Gabes-Apg wrote:Yep

Many, many years ago I did Atkins (low carbs, high fat) and never felt better in my life. Might be time to slowly head back that way again.

Wow, that really IS low in carbs, and seems like it might be really low in calories. Any idea how many calories a day you're ingesting or don't you count with this eating plan? I know when I did Atkins I never counted and still lost a lot of weight.Gabes-Apg wrote:like anything start with really small amount, ie 1/4 teaspoon and work up gradually

I was going to post a "thumbs up" emoticon here but I couldn't find one (not saying we don't have one, just that I couldn't find it). Your eating style is bringing back fond memories of when I was doing Atkins... I was never hungry and was enjoying foods that most others frowned upon because they were all hell bent on low-fat, high carb.
I was trying to remember why I ever gave up that style of eating and I just remembered: it was about 25 years ago, long before anyone had heard of Atkins and thought I was crazy for doing it. It was working for weight loss and I looked and felt great, but then I was having some mysterious medical issues that we couldn't figure out and family (and even doctors) were starting to chalk it up to my "crazy eating habits". Now we know that wasn't it, but I buckled under pressure and went back to eating like everyone else to see if that would solve my problems.
Anyway, carbs are going to start slowly disappearing from my diet. Thanks for the reminder that this can be healthy for some people!

Sue,
I never can find that emoticon when I need it either, so I usually just spell it out . Except I use a lower-case "T", then browsers will interpret it as the emoticon.

Good to know, thanks! See? You're not ignerent and foreign to social media - you're a pro!tex wrote:Sue,
